Well, a few easy explanations:
First, the most recent Bluffton post is from a New Member. Nothing wrong with that, but in my experience folks who are newer to Yappi are a bit more vocal as homers
Second, Bluffton is as good as they've been in their recent history so of course there's enthusiasm in their fanbase. In the recent past, Bluffton has largely been a mediocre, average team at best. Not a playoff mainstay or contender. Bluffton had a breakthrough last season at 12-2 and seems to have similar high hopes this season. Both of Bluffton's losses last year were close losses to Columbus Grove. Bluffton was more competitive in their loss to CG than CG was in their loss to Versailles. Folks aren't going to like that statement, but it's accurate. All that to say, Bluffton is working to close the gap, and has done so quickly, but is still a step down from CG on the ladder until proven otherwise. A lot of this conversation is just competitive rivals in the same league trading barbs. Relatively harmless. My perspective, at least, as someone not affiliated with either Bluffton or Columbus Grove.
A third possible explanation is just an arrogant fanbase, but I don't think that's accurate. Some teams have those small handful of posters that make their team look bad (i.e. the Bishop Fenwick folks on here
). People on Yappi do not represent their schools or teams, they're just enthusiastic to talk sports and biased to support their own team. Anyways, just my two cents.
edit: adding to say, I don't think any of the Bluffton posters have been
that bad. I think there's been quality football insight from several of their posts. This NWC thread seems more, uh, volatile, than some of the other league threads like the MAC, WBL, or MVL threads. There doesn't seem to be a lot of camaraderie among teams/fans here. Which is fine, but most of these posts just seem like folks having harmless discussions.
