NE8 2024

Little tidbit for everyone to dwell on. I was at the Girard game lastnight with two friends and spoke with two different parents who's sons play for Girard. They were telling me that the coach's held a practice at Girard stadium on this past Thursday in the morning and there was a scuffle between Cochran and another coach and one of the other coaches tried to break it up and Cochran punched him in the face. What a beautiful thing for these young kids for Girard to see. What a great example this coaching staff reflects on to these kids. The administration should fire all involved. I'm sure that there won't be anything done about it cause said coach has a lot of control in this town and that's so very sad.
Girard is definitely the black sheep of this league. Read into that what you will.

This is a really stupid post to make. Not doubting that it could have happened but making a post alleging a person assaulted another person because two strangers said so with NO evidence? Meh.

Congrats to Perry on the win, made just enough plays. Good season for the wildcats the kids left it all on the field and they have nothing to be ashamed about.

The offensive coaching staff needs to never return ever again that was the most lousy play calling I’ve seen in 20 years
Idk what was going on with our offense either. That pitch sweep works a lot of times but the defense was all over it from the beginning. How many times could we run the same play when we were getting nothing from it all night. Then the double shot up the gut at the goal line. The first one failed, why line up quick and do it again, you know the defense has been good against the run, and know what plays coming now. Almost no shots down field. The two fumbles are not like us, luckily no points came of them. That was from them struthers boys hitting with a purpose though. Looked like the perry flying squirrels a few times the way them boys were hitting.

Should have been a running clock, the referees were as bad as ever. Really bad.
The play that highlighted it was the tipped ball touchdown. It appeared that during the play, a flag was thrown in the Indians backfield . The 'conference' lasted forever. After much discussion it appeared that the refs determined that whatever happened, occurred after the play was over and the whistle had blown. Keep in mind that the catch & run covered approx. 70 yds. As a result, the TD was allowed to stand, and the 15 yds was stepped off against Girard on the ensuing kickoff. It seemed clear that the penalty was called as the Girard QB moved in the pocket to avoid the rush, who knows, no harm, no foul, just safe to say that the whole crew of officials didn't have their best night.

I don’t really mind missed holding or called ticky tack flags. I can’t stand when refs lose control of a game and personal fouls happen over and over. It’s a potential safety issue for kids and simply shouldn’t happen. It’s disappointing and needs to be fixed.

The holding calls missed and called were egregious though. There is an old adage regarding referees..and I’m officially on board.

“There isn’t a good one out there”

I can read and do math. Girard makes up 14 percent of the league and commits 60 percent of the violent, err, personal fouls. It seems they are on a war path to make people forget Hubbard ever had a problem committing non-football related penalties.

Kid from Girard is involved every game
He took cheap shot at our kids in our game earlier this year.
He will be a problem later in life cause gets away with everything now with no ramifications
Does remind me of the kids Hubbard had a couple years ago

South Range vs. Garaway

Poland vs. Manchester

Possible sites?
Minerva and Carrollton are about the midway point for SR/Garaway. Or Canton area.
Ravenna for Poland?

I commented on the sites thread that I could see Marlington for SR. They like to host a couple times a year.

Why would he explain more?? It clearly says to read between the lines? If you support the guardians, then plead your case. They play the way they are coached and it shows up on Friday nights.
Who is the guardians? He brought up the black sheep comment. Just wanted to hear his details to come to that conclusion

People always forget about Salem. They have hosted before and would be a good neutral point for Poland/ Manchester

Canton CC. also could be an option for either matchup

Murph, I'd say AlmostPrideful understood exactly what I was driving at, see his post. Trying to be polite here, but Girard has a certain reputation that they live up to week after week. Personal fouls, fighting, generally dirty. They had a player take his own helmet off last night and start heading toward SR players. Then the anecdote about the *alleged* coaches' fight fits the same narrative.

I don't hear or see anything quite like Girard in the rest of the conference, hence "black sheep."

That is too bad. But I have been to plenty of Girard games, and have watched them, and haven't seen anything that bad from them. I see teams cheap shot them too sometimes. That stuff happens in football

Well they did have as many players as SR make all conference, so I don't think the black sheep applies here.

I know against Poland #78 went on a 25-30 yard sprint to sucker punch #4 from Poland after a sack. He should have been thrown out of that game.

In the nicest way, I’ve seen devout college football fans unable to watch things objectively. Same for HS. Heard some disparaging stuff about the Indians in the handshake line. Saw some stuff on the field that doesn’t align with a solid program from Girard.

I guess that solves it. They have the players but not the program and coaching. Has to be the difference right? If making all conference is where kids hang their hat, that’s great. If that’s what the program is in to. If that is the case league wide, I think the Raiders continue undefeated in conference for quite a while.

My point was setting an example for Girard football. Coaches throwing fist at practice. If you have a problem with each other wait till the kids go home.
