Most Surprising Results at Brecksville/Medina?

Luke Fleming over Nick Nusekabel 4-2 at Brecksville. Fleming did not wrestle or was injured in the finals. Does anyone have any info?

Hammer came back and beat him in the consolations.

looking at the mit tourney brackets...these two didn't wrestle a second time...seeding info shows howes is a sr....36-8 last season...unseeded (don't know his story...)...i'm a hammer fan (btw)...he'll learn from this and come back strong!!!...he's a winner!!!

Biggest Surprise was Danishek over Screptock 12-1, I thought Danishek might win but not by that big of a margin...

140: Brandon "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me" Howes, Senior, Pickerington North High School. Tough kid. Lost a couple of close ones and bowed out of the MIT a bit early. I wouldn't be surprised to see him wrestling in March @ The Schott.

I need to find those pictures of u from last year at the state tournament. Lol

My two cents: Lots of kids work extremely hard, however, from what I observed for a brief time, for his age Danishek had/has a very mature understanding of HOW to train. I tend to think that this will be the factor that separates him from the field as time goes on. A man among boys in this regard and it would not be outside of the question for him to win multiple DIII titles.

Two surprises for me, both team related.

First, St Edward made a strong statement at Medina! second, Wadsworth loses to Chanel at Brecksville.

I didn't really think Wadsworth would win 2 state titles in a row, but also didn't think they would lose to Chanel at Brecksville.

On the other side of the mat, St. Edward says the D1 state title is running right through Lakewood this year.

Mass Perry seems to be setting up for 2012.

I'm not surprised by wadsworths finish. Theyre missing Gordon and Brandenberg to injuries, have a inexperienced jv wrestler at 152 and 160, inexperienced freshman at 103, and their heavy is 220. I see them placing maybe 3rd at state this year.

I agree that Perry will be strong in 2012, but St. Edward is starting just one Senior and may be starting zero come states.

Spare the excuses on Wadsworth. They're 10 days off of out-pointing a VERY good Canon-McMillan team at North Canton (CMac wins the Powerade this past week, a tournament with a better field than anything in Ohio other than the Ironman).

Chanel is also without one or two state quality starters as well in Collier and Tschantz.

Even if Wenger was healthy and able to compete (finishing between first and fourth), it's unrealistic to expect that they make up all 24 points of their deficit to Chanel.

The credit goes to Chanel for their performance, and man did their kids step up above realistic expectations (ie- Kennedy Smith, Jon Schafer).

The total collapse of Massillon Perry in the semifinals qualifies as a suprirse.

If you want to use the excuse of Wadsworth's HVY only weighing 220 than Chanel will use the same, except Barrett doesn't even weigh 220 LOL

Not making excuses for Wadsworth, as my boy goes to Revere. Im just saying the reasons I didn't expect them to do well this year. They just dont have the team they did last year. But a head to head with Chanel would be nice. Bracket draw at Brecksville plays into factor too.

Agreed

Burcher from Claymont upsetting number 2 seed via pinnning his way to the finals. Only losing 6-0 to Tomasallo.

Not really surprising at all. The "2" seed posted a 6th place district finish for seed criteria while actually a 1-2 and DNP.(knocked out by the 6th place finisher)

The two best made it to the finals. Not nearly as deep as most of the other weight classes.

Great job keeping it to 6-0 vs. Tomasallo.

how about D'urso winning the 130lb weight class at Medina. For someone who took time off wrestling, he has been impressive the last two years.
