Probably another reason DSJ wouldn't leave the MAC. Both had rough seasons, though not too bad for DSJ. Just an odd town from my perspective.DELPHOS — Delphos Jefferson and St. John’s athletic departments have made a joint decision to not play week #1 football in 2024. It was deemed that it was in the best interest of both programs.
Going to need to hear from some Delphos locals on this one. Makes no sense not to play each other. Just my opinion, but if we could play non conference games against our closest non MAC school I would in a heart beat every year.DELPHOS — Delphos Jefferson and St. John’s athletic departments have made a joint decision to not play week #1 football in 2024. anyone got the list for the southwest ohio district teamSW District 1st Team: Osborne QB, Dominic Barga OL, Schmitmeyer LB, Griesdorn DB
2nd Team: Gehret RB, Dominic Meyer OL, Francis LB
Didn't see Honorable Mention. If Gehret isn't hurt, he's 1st team all district and it isn't close.
anyone got the list for the southwest ohio district team
Thank you, we like you too. I had heard this might be a possibility. Don't know the underlying reasons but maybe the scores of the last two games had an influence. We just picked up DJ in boys basketball last year, our first regular season matchup since 1954. We play in every sport but volleyball and football now. Oh well.Probably another reason DSJ wouldn't leave the MAC. Both had rough seasons, though not too bad for DSJ. Just an odd town from my perspective.
not from Delphos, but makes sense. jefferson is going to be down, and DSJ got no computer points. no sense in scheduling a guaranteed loss for Jefferson and no sense in scheduling a win that get you much for DSJGoing to need to hear from some Delphos locals on this one. Disagree under this new format of 16 teams.not from Delphos, but makes sense. jefferson is going to be down, and DSJ got no computer points. no sense in scheduling a guaranteed loss for Jefferson and no sense in scheduling a win that get you much for DSJ
Even with 16 teams DSJ did not make the playoffs.Disagree under this new format of 16 teams.
Ya only get so many games ....play em!
Looking at it from a Jefferson stand point, I would assume they're trying to find some wins. They're not concerned about the proximity of an opponent or the computer points the opposition doesn't get, but just getting a win for their program. They also are playing Parkway next year in Week 2, so maybe they didn't want to schedule two MAC schools even though I wouldn't necessarily attach Parkway's roster next year to a normal MAC-moniker. I have no problem with a program scheduling non conference opponents to help them get a win. Most don't understand the toll that takes on kids, coaches, & a fan base.Going to need to hear from some Delphos locals on this one. Makes no sense not to play each other. We would have made it in the other three Div 7 regions. Reg 26 had ten more teams than Regions 27 and 28 for some reason which might have been a factor.Even with 16 teams DSJ did not make the playoffs.

under the new format, 4-6 should be enough to get you in the playoffs and DSJ didn't get close. that should matter tooDisagree under this new format of 16 teams.

Sorry not necessarily meaning it in a bad way. Just different or unique as a better way to put it. My sister in-law's husband is a DSJ grad. I like him but he's a bit different as well. It definitely has a blend of the surrounding areas but it's own style. Always a different feel I get when over there compared to other towns & schools.Thank you, we like you too. I had a teacher in high school who went to DSJ and married a gal from Auglaize County and when they were deciding where to settle their family, my teacher said DSJ is a special place, he couldn’t explain it, but it was special and he wanted his kids to attend DSJ.Sorry not necessarily meaning it in a bad way. i didnt take it as they each were only going to play 9 games. i think they just decided they wont play each other. id have to imagine they made the decision together knowing that there were better options for each other out thereTrue.
I still hate not playing games though. You only get 10. Maybe DSJ will hold out and see if someone else needs a week 1
I'm sure the daily Standard has it covered... maybe they can reprint some of the choice words again... that I have never seen printed in a newspaper beforeWord out of Rockford tonight, football coach resigned.
As the rumor mill continues to spin, there will be further items coming out against the coach.I'm sure the daily Standard has it covered... maybe they can reprint some of the choice words again... that I have never seen printed in a newspaper before
that would be a great pick up for the BluejaysSt. Henry’coach has also resigned.
Plus FWIW, I heard (not confirmed) that DSJ will be playing Sidney Lehman Week 1
Nothing wrong about being transparent, don't want words repeated don't say them.I'm sure the daily Standard has it covered... maybe they can reprint some of the choice words again... that I have never seen printed in a newspaper before
