JJHuddle Alumni!

the Wayback Machine did an OK job on the huddle. you can scroll through the thread titles and see who posted them but i can't get any of them to open.

still a decent reference to find random posters. you can see different points in time by using the toolbar at the top.
 
The huddle was a bit before my time. I had always been tuned in on South East Ohio Preps (SEOPS) and a poster in there had brought up Yappi so I followed it and came here. It has brought me tons of knowledge abt football across our great state and expanded me from our small SEO bubble. and the fact that my team (Waverly) is in a region that is dominated by SW OH schools.
I was Kicker. Before losing the account info and going as Jeaux Burreaux, this going by Burreaux here
 
I was underthelights on JJHuddle from about 00 to 09 then went on hiatus until I came here in 2016. Back in the day I mostly followed the MOAC, which has almost no posters on here, and the OCC. Honestly, there’s hardly any central Ohio talk on here. I mostly just was a spectator on here until I retired last year.

There was a lot more talk on the Huddle about the smaller divisions and leagues. Just a lot more high school football talk in general, but we must remember those years were probably the final years of high school football really being ultra important in Ohio. Just in the last ten years or so it seems to have greatly diminished. Talk, coverage, attendance, depth of high level talent, all diminished. Yappi is one of the last strongholds.

When JJ shuttered the boards (I know I’ve said this elsewhere, unsure if earlier on this thread) it was during the summer and he actively censored / discouraged the promotion of Yappi as a place for posters to emigrate to. That made for a hard onboarding of Central Ohio talk. Took years to get an inch.

re: MOAC — MarionPleasantDad / MPD is still around on here. USA70PP passed away last year.

I was on JJHuddle..I think I was smokey2247 but not sure. I am going to have to scroll down this thread and see who I remember. I also don't remember when I transitioned

Quick glance at page one...yeah lol it makes perfect sense Licking County Fan was NCFan. My memories of the huddle kind of blend into this website at this age.

I do remember the LeBron SVSM era SMH ..man that was something. If you think Glenville, Richmond Hts and Massilon threads are wild you ain't see nuthin' lol. I think public vs private has always been a thing.
 
When did Huddle go under? I never knew (or maybe cared) about High School sports websites until about 2010. I ran across Yappi when I was in NYC for two weeks and stuck in a hotel room many nights. I found Huddle when I was searching the internet probably a year later. Never posted there.
 
I remember ONN would have JJ on for interviews prior to state championship games. When interviewed prior to the Ed’s / Elder game in 2003, it was painstakingly obvious that he followed the smaller division schools and knew nothing about D1 schools 😂

I never posted just read for the entertainment value.

I went to a Marion Pleasant - St. Henry game back in the JJ Huddle days. Had a nice time tailgaiting with MPD and the Marion Pleasant fans before the game. He politely waited until game time to ask if Pleasant had a chance. They didn't, but the Pleasant fans who gave me free food did not know that.
 
Speaking of JJ, trying to remember how many from here went to JJ's retirement party from the fire department. I remember maybe meyer57 and Buckeye Bill. Imagine there were a few others there. He told me last year he still has the gong I gave him as a retirement present.
