Is the US irreparably split

We allow people with mental illness to not only run rampant in our society, but we give them microphones.

Do any of you ever see a day when the US will ever be united again or is our great experiment finally at an end after just 250 years.
I can never see myself ever agreeing on anything with the leftist, what about it
We have never been united. We continue to grow and this will pass. We will eventually figure out the instant poison media effect on our politics/lives.

Pat Buchanan has been right way more abut this stuff then he's been wrong:

True, we have been through and recovered from divisive times.

In the 1860s, 11 of the 33 states seceded and fought for four years to gain their independence of the Union.

The 1960s were divisive, but the left, with Sen. George McGovern its political expression, captured less than 40% of the vote against Richard Nixon in 1972. Ronald Reagan ran up two landslides in the 1980s.

Those days are long gone.

The left today dominates the academic community and culture to a greater degree than it once did and is further removed from the heart of the country in Middle America than it has ever been.

When, how, does America ever unite again? And what unites us, other than an external attack on the country, like Pearl Harbor or 9/11?

Where is the common ground on which to stand?

Does such ground even exist, given the divisions in religion, race and ethnicity, and the seemingly irreconcilable disagreements over morality, ideology, culture and politics?

Has the great experiment run its course?

The great experiment is bankrupt and there are several on this site applauding adding another trillion dollars to the Debt with Gravybrain's pen yesterday. With the Fed pushing interest rates higher, the Debt Service will soon become the #2 outlay for our tax dollars. By 2026, the Debt is projected to be over $40,000,000,000,000 according to usdebtclock.org. This amount of spending is unsustainable... and yet, morons want to spend even more money that doesn't exist.

Meanwhile in the real world the Debt/Defict once again shrinks with Democrats (Adults) in charge:

This year, FY 2022, the federal government in its latest budget has estimated that the deficit will be $1,415 billion.

What porn site did you get those fantasy numbers from? Obarry ran up $10 trillion in debt in 8 years. Oh wait...that was BadBush43’s fault. I forgot nothing stuck to Pharaoh.

We weren’t United during WWII? Or after 9/11?
We were certainly more united. We go to war tomorrow you will see overwhelming support with some minor descent. There were people adamantly against us entering WWII even after Pearl Harbor. We have been here before believe it or not. There have been calls for succession many times over various things. Today appears far worse today because everyone has a microphone and our media makes survives off of clicks which compromises what is really "news." At some point America will overcome the "noise" factor that has become our media.

Set politics aside and 90% of the people on this forum would get along. Of course there will always be a---holes like chs1971. :ROFLMAO:

Really? Like Vietnam? We've currently been at war with somebody for over two decades without "overwhelming support."

That is what you got out of my post? I actually remember you being all for Iraq and Afghanistan before you were told to be against.

Seeing as how you missed the point to try to prove a point I'll explain again. While an event such as 9/11 or Pearl Harbor would certainly bring the nation closely together there will still be some outliers. Then there is the whole media thing.

Then you remember wrong.

So it was only "outliers" who opposed Bush's Iraq invasion after 9/11? You remember that wrong too.

You're on a roll.

Lately, I've run across some families that are divided. All of them are on Facebook and all of them are split because of their political views. One family in particular, the Mom is very liberal while one son is very conservative and the other a moderate conservative. The Mom and moderate son weren't speaking for a long period of time due to their different political opinions that were expressed on Facebook. After reconciliation with the first son, the Mom and conservative son had a falling out. Didn't last as long but it was about Facebook and politics. The Mom is in her 70s and the boys are in their late 40s. I know of many families that have different political persuasions from generation to generation but it seems like the families that actually have falling-outs are the ones that make a public display of it.

Long story short, seems like social media is making people become more entrenched in their beliefs and not worry who they offend, including family.

Is Yappi irreparably split?
This is on your head Mr. Yappi! What are you going to do about it?

Unlike the OP, I believe the current situation is more like 1776 than 1860.
1. You mentioned there will be some against a justified war. During the 1770s, the support for the Revolution was far below 50% When the war started, the support was even less.
2. Matter of fact, a significant amount of colonists aligned themselves with Britain and ratted out revolutionaries...neighbors and friends.
3. The King’s reach, edicts, fatwas, and mandates escalated during his last 10 years in power over the colonies. Much like today, the federalization of our lives is increasing exponentially. 87,000 IRS agents, anyone?
4. The King tried to round up every miscreant, objector and Declaration-signer he could. Just like Garland, Google, FB and Twitter arresting and chasing down miscreants and objectors.

I’d sign another Declaration. Seems like Liberty needs a little freshening.

And me, then ?

I mean, I agree with 71 more often than I do you, even IF you voted in reflection of the values you claim in here.

Did I make the ahole cut, too?

Echo chamber defined, with a widget to measure affirmation, yet.

This. Media is poison in this regard. People are getting themselves killed because they think the world is ending.
