Oh he's still one of my favorite players ever. It's just that he never acknowledges he even played for them. He considers himself a Cardinal. Whenever he talks about playing on NFL Network he always talks about his time in Arizona. I think he forgets who gave him the opportunity to even be relevant.

Personally I think he's bitter they let him go for Marc Bulger. I probably would be too. Bulger was straight trash.

I love all this crap about Eli winning two Super Bowls ... Really?

The Giants won two Super Bowls because their defense held the high powered NE offense to 14 and 17 points. The Giants offense only scored 17 and 21 points. Two of the bottom 5 scoring totals in the Super Bowls in the last 35 years. Yes, in both games Eli came up big at the end of the game, but if it where not for the Giants' D ... they would have been blown out and his late game heroics would have been insignificant.

Winning Super Bowls are more than winning the actual game. You have to get there and look at how the Giants got there. Manning beat Green Bay and San Francisco on the road. He then cemented his legacy with a throw on the dime to Manningham. The dude's elite, give him his due.

He is elite but he's not a HOF'er yet. Another 3-5 years of consistency and sure.

does anyone think that where a qb plays comes into consideration? Granted, Green Bay did not have a lot of bad weather, but half their games are outside and Stafford and Breese play inside half the time.

It's easier to make throws indoors.

my vote is rodgers had the best season of the three.

What the hell does it matter what city you win in?

On second thought nevermind. I just realized who I was about to argue with.

Joe Namath only won one Super Bowl and he's in. Phil Simms will be in very soon as well. I understand if your simple mind can't understand the factors of playing in certain cities, but I'll use the alphabet blocks for you so you understand. In New York, the expectations and media blitz is a lot to handle, too much for a lot. To experience success in settings such as that is very accomplished. Eli will be in the Hall of Fame.

Phil Simms? ... he has been retired for almost 20 years and he is still not in. I don't think he has even been a finalist. He is not getting in any time soon, if at all. Eli will get in, if he continues playing like he did this year for a few more season. If he goes back to his beginning career play, two SB and NY won't help him. But, he is a lot closer than Phil Simms.

Phil Simms will get in, mark my words.

As much as I hate to say it, Chazz has a point- doing things in New York makes sportswriters get all glassy eyed. Right or wrong, it's the case.

This is true. If you want a current example, check out the way over the top coverage of the Knicks player, Jeremy Lin. If he had five good games in a row for Portland, you still wouldn't have heard of him.

Did you hear about Ricky Rubio in Minnesota?

That's a little different. That is the league office pushing the over-hype of him to drum up interest in the European market. Have Kyrie Irving and Lin swap seasons and teams, and tell me Irving wouldn't be getting mega-love as a sure thing rookie of the year and savior of the Knicks...and probably would've been on the all-star team...and Lin would've just been a mildly interesting side-show the last five games for Cleveland that would barely be registering a blip with the NYC media.

Are you serious? Most polls I have seen has Irving as the #1 rookie this year and was a sure thing Rookie of the Year. He still wouldn't have been on the All-Star team.

Irving better be ROY, but there are a lot of Rubio-ites out there.

My point is mainly that if Irving was on the Knicks, he probably makes the all-star team, and if Lin was doing his thing the last five games for Cleveland, nobody in the NYC media would care a whole lot, and his highlights wouldn't lead off Sportscenter every night.

NYC, as I'm sure you know, is a different animal...which speaks to the point made earlier that playing in New York greatly enhances Eli's HOF profile.

I agree that playing in NY does get you more attention, but the NFL hall of fame selection committee is equally represented by each NFL city. Playing in NY will not get you in any quicker.

He'd be getting way more hype though, there's no doubt about that. And Lin would be getting way, way less.

Look at the body of work. They were great all season long. That'd be like me saying Aaron Rodgers wasn't a great QB because of his game against Kansas City.

They are good, but it's not the best in the league. I don't think Rodgers would mind throwing to Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzalez

No doubt about it

Absolutely Eli Manning is a Hall of Famer. The guy is probably the most clutch quarterback of his generation and has authored some of the most memorable postseason wins in NFL history.

From a statistical standpoint, for those who say "he's only done it for one year" ... he's averaged roughly 26 TDs and 3800 yards since his rookie year. Hell, over the last 3 years, he's averaging 29 TDs and 4300 yards (including the 6th most passing yards ever this past season). When he eventually hangs it up, there's every reason to believe he'll be top 5 all-time in both passing yards and TDs.

As for the comparisons to Roethlisberger, a guy who many posters here seem to think is way ahead of Manning on the question of the Hall of Fame, stats-wise, Eli has more yards and TDs than him, not to mention better career post-season stats. Same goes for Phillip Rivers.

So, yeah ... Canton is a given.
