Is Akron Springfield looking for a new Head Football Coach to replace Coach John Kinsey??

So much for loyalty. Also, shame on Coventry. There had to plenty of other qualified candidates to choose from beside this one.
As someone very close to the situation, you are way off base. He is leaving because he most likely would not have a teaching job at SHS within a year or two. Hate to break it to you, but coaching doesn't pay the bills. He did what's best for his family. Coventry was able to offer security as a teacher, and a football job. Springfield couldn't do the same. No brainer.

As far as loyalty, this guy has been the HC of the baseball team, varsity assistant for basketball, and then helped the school again by doing JH basketball this past year because they couldn't find anybody. So coaching 3 sports for the district, and has done that for many years... I'd say that's pretty loyal.

You will soon find out how intelligent this guy is. He was already making a huge difference at Springfield. Weight room numbers were up (He had at least 15 kids out that haven't been in the past). Kinsey repainted the locker rooms with a few assistant coaches on his own time. He went out and mulched the school for team bonding and to make a difference. These are little things, but they add up. I've never been a fan of the Comets but I'm excited for them, and they got a great football mind. Don't be shocked when they win some games.

Nonetheless, you need to put some ethics in the equation by the Coventry district and the coach. As for the coach, I am not sure he even played HS football? He hasn't done anything and even this late will be replaced by someone that can do just as good as he would have. Karma is funny also and I hope it comes around.
This is so stupid and obviously you’re being a hater. Springfield is in danger of shutting down or turning into 8 man football. If you knew your job was at risk of shutting down you would do your best to look elsewhere to save your career so why can’t he? Be better cmon you salty fan

Bad for the kids at Springfield. Probably could have all been handled better, but Coventry is the district that had an interesting group of head coaches over the years.

I think Coventry has had the chances to be really good for awhile, just couldnt catch a break. The last time they had a winning season was in 2017. 2018, and 2019, they had injury issues. And in 2020, they had to deal with a brand new coach, and a brand new system during a pandemic year. I hope coach Kinsey can be the answer that Coventry needs. But in order to have a chance at succeeding here, he will have to focus on several issues. Firstly, injury prevention; ensuring proper stretching routines before and after practices, as well as ensuring that the summertime conditioning actually prepares the athletes for the rigours of a season, is necessary to reduce the amount of season ending injuries for the comets. Secondly, discipline, on and off the field. Thirdly, off-season conditioning; Keith Shinn's steelyard is a great resource. Also, Coventry has an excellent track coach in Danny Savage, for speedwork in the springtime. There is simply no excuse for the continued underperformance of Coventry's football team. I personally believe we have everything we need, right here in the township, to put together a winning product every year.

If Springfield is seriously considering shutting down their football team, they need to look for a new conference. Maybe try to join the City Series, PTC County, or PAC. Its obvious they can't compete in the Metro.

Also, if their financial situation is as bad as it sounds from this thread, the Metro League made a poor decision by inviting them to join.

I beg to disagree. He wanted the HFC position at Springfield for awhile now. They gave it to him without looking outside. Perhaps union rules dictated the situation. Where's the loyalty to his employer and most improtantly to the kids?

Let's keep it real here.........Coventry needed an Intervention Specialist position filled and he is licensed in that area. Coventry did what the majority of districts do.......hire the holder of that license that happens to be a coach. BTW.....what is his record as a HFC?
I dont now the background (wanting HC job for awhile, not looking outside), but its a business and he did what he thought he had to do. I do feel bad for the kids but Springfield has to look into the mirror and right the ship if they want to keep any kind of talent.

There is none.

I think that this is a terrible choice for Coventry.. the guy was terrible at Mogadore and will most likely be terrible anywhere else. I am excited to watch Mogadore football again now that Kinsey is gone. #poorcoventry

To be clear you are saying he was terrible as a offensive coordinator? Last time I checked the OC doesn’t run the team or have the final call offensively. Especially at a school with the expectations of Mogadore. I was told some staff and players had nothing but good things to say about him. Does your opinion come from a personal experience?

Yes he was OC. Almost 100% positive he called all offensive plays while Mogadore HC Adorni stood back. From what I know, players did not like him nor did most staff members considering the fact that he is not coaching no longer. My opinion comes from what I know

I see thanks for clarifying. Sounds like the Coventry and Springfield people talked to all the wrong people. Bet they wished they had your knowledge of the situation before the hiring.

No problem. There are many ppl who would say the same thing. During a Moggy football game half of the crowd yelled at John Kinsey.. interesting time for Mogadore for sure

Are we even surprised Mogadore people would do that? Mogadore is the definition of classless and trashy. The town is a bunch of racist I have experienced this 1st hand and its a dump of a place who tires to act like they are the class of the weak PTC County.
Have you ever been to Rootstown, Garretsville? They are the epitome of trashy. Crowds yelling at coaches that don't do their jobs correctly is what the problem was, other than that Moggy fans are great and one of the best fan bases in the state. The guy was also a tool just in general. If you experienced it, you might just understand. Mogadore is not full of racists, I think you're talking about Rootstown there.

I have been on the field and in the stands at Mogadore high school. The amount of racial slurs I heard on the field and in the crowd is absolutely disgusting and I know this behavior is acceptable I have people from Mogadore who I’m close with say how embarrassed they are to be from a place like Mogadore and will never Return back as they said “that racist piece of dump”

Interesting. Are you a former player? If so, that's a disgrace for you to talk down on your home town... I have heard of very few instances of racism in Mogadore. However, Rootstown is the epitome of racism and that is why their coach left last year. This thread isn't about racism and Mogadore, it's mostly about the decision that is made for Kinsey as HC for Coventry. Kinsey did nothing for Mogadore while he was there which is why he was fired originally. Sorry for your experiences in Mogadore, but everyone's is different and I have heard of no racism that you are talking about.

A player from streetsboro was called the n word during the game and spit on after a play and got a penalty for pushing the kid while everything happened in from of the refs. The whole county division of the PTC is bad racially.

The whole town like you is delusional of these things and assume nothing happens so of course you guys assume “nothing happens” Kinsey was never fired and even still why would Adorni have so much high quality things to say about him if he didn’t like him? I’m going to take the HC word for a hire over a crowd full of people who think they know football but really don’t. You can’t call yourself a great fan base if you boo at a coach who is talked of highly from the HC. If that’s the case why isn’t Adorni being Booed? Parents In stands are hilarious and need to shut up and stick to watching the game. If they think it’s that easy to coach then you go on the field and call plays.

Funny, you're real funny "football guy". He was fired technically. He was given the chance to step away or be fired and chose to step away so it didn't look as bad..... I have sources, one being a close friend's son who said Kinsey played favorites and didnt even like anybody, was full of himself. HC Adorni was one of the ones who does not like him, either. HENCE why he is gone. Do not believe in to what you hear I am a good source that is all
