Yes, my late Uncle ‘Roberto’ loved doing all that research on Hubbard football. Definitely the expert. Unfortunately, I do not have his historical data. I will have to check with my aunt and my cousin to see if I can get some of it.

In fact, I think my aunt may have previously mentioned about sharing some of the data with me. I will definitely follow up.

Your uncle was a good friend of mine, I really admired his intellect. All Hubbard posters relied on his stats, he is sadly missed in the Hubbard football community...
 
Hubbard is taking a different approach this year as far as conditioning. NE8 record last year will be their motivation to be more disciplined, and coaching has already said this group will be in better shape for this year.

What surprises me is Hoffman always had the reputation as being a huge fitness guy when he played at both Hubbard and at Youngstown State under Tressel. Why he would make that decision last year is quite puzzling.

I have to disagree with you on that returning a lot of kids from their previous team could have great benefits just because you were 4-6 don't mean the kids that were on that team will have the same record as the preview year. I believe having a lot of experience coming back helps

I hate saying this, but it's a true statement . Hubbards off-season in the weight room has always been undisciplined because of the adults that over see them don't really work with the kids to motivate them. The kids follow a set workout plan but most kids don't really try hard enough and that has always pissed me off! I have a weight room setup in my basement and I always workout with my grandsons that play for Hubbard and I always push them to their limits.

You're a good grandfather SOARING, your grandsons are very lucky to have you. Good luck to them and to the entire Hubbard football team this coming season as well. Last year was hard to watch, that certainly wasn't Hubbard football. I sit around a bunch of season ticket holders, all of us are, (we all miss Roberto) and what we witnessed last year we haven't seen in over 25 years. Hoffman's name was thrown around a lot last season at the games and not in a very positive way. I'm somewhat surprised that the Hubbard faithful still came out in such large crowds down at The Beautiful at the very end of last season, that's really a good thing and is certainly a proud tribute to this fine community...

Hubbard had 5 sophomores starting last year in key positions. You had a few first time starters as well. A new QB who transferred in last year. What did you guys expect? I mean you have to be realistic. Could they have won a game or two more? Maybe. But that is what you would expect from a young team. Am I wrong?

I preached that all of last season over and over again. I totally agree with MassillonK's #74 post on this thread, even at 4-6 last season those young kids gained a wealth of experience along with a bunch of battle scars. They'll still be a young team this year though.

Seems like first 4 games will tell the tale. If they can get out of the gates 3-1 or 4-0 then they can make the playoffs. Not a difficult opening slate of games. I would think they would be huge favorites against everyone except maybe Wilmington, but don't know much about them.

Because you are disrupting 330’s love affair that Struthers is the best team every year. He forgets range won the ne8 last year and the year before etc. Hell struthers didn’t even come in 2nd last year. 😀

I totally agree with you Eaglesfly, the hatred he has, and spread also, for Hubbard has been extremely strong for many, many years.

Struthers record against Hubbard is 1-5 in the last 6 years, that might be part of the reason why they despise Hubbard so deeply and passionately.

I’ll self impose a yappj ban for myself for a week if we were to lose to Hubbard this year.


Also I said they’re gonna be third in the league that’s not hatred but can’t wait for this season to start regardless I’ll never pick against the cats in any game that’s just the way I am

This year Struthers comes to The Beautiful, 2 years ago they couldn't even bring a measly 200 people into the visiting stands. It was far from a "gate game". A lot of the Hubbard faithful were commenting on the lack of people sitting over there.

Same could be said for the fans of Hubbard in Struthers last year. All around the area it’s rare to have packed houses anymore
