Do you go to Halloween parties

Don't get me wrong, I love partying and all that. Just terrible at thinking up costumes most of the time.

Thoughts on halloween? Do you partake in the festivities?

We set up a haunted house in the basement for the kids. We have a torture dungeon, a Dracula in a coffin, a ghost guide, a captive zombie, skeletons, a talking skull, creepy music, blacklight and strobe lights. It takes about a month to set it up, but the kids love it. They cry, of course, but then they always want to do it again.

Every 5 years or so, our friends and we get together and have "the offensive Halloween party" where everyone has to dress up in the most shocking, disgusting or offensive costumes possible. One of our friends came a OJ Simpson, complete with gloves and bloody clothes. There's always Nazis and Hitlers, people in execution scenarios, inappropriate children's characters (like Bugs Bunny with giant genitals) and plenty of racially insensitive characters... and lots of bloody clothes and props. My wife and I went as Lizzie Borden's parents with axes in our heads, and our neighbors went as the murdered parents of Lyle and Erik Menendez. One guy came as the cop from Silence of the Lambs that had his face cut off. His brother came as Jeffrey Dahmer, the cannibal serial killer. Another came as Steve Irwin with the stingray hanging from his chest. The most disgusting ones, though, seem to come from the women. Our daughter, a nurse, came as a patient with the flesh-eating disease. One girl came as a giant used tampon, and then there was the girl who came as Laci Peterson, complete with baby hanging from the umbilical. Yuck. She won the big prize... a human skull filled with bloody raw hamburger and sausage.
