GWOC 2024

That was literally against the Princeton starters lol. And they never took the first team offense out of the game and they started to lock in during the second quarter.
I was at the game too. It was definitely against their 2s. The coaches for Princeton didn’t even have their headsets on. They put their 2s in with about 6:30 left. Those are the facts. You go from not moving the ball at all except two plays, get down to the 3 and don’t score. To all of sudden you’re get 6,7, 8 yards a carry? Then all of sudden completing long bombs. The 2s were in. Springfield coaches even said the 2s were in.

The Springfield OL was terrible from what I heard. The QB was running for his life. No time at all to throw the balll.
I look for Princeton to give the GCL South fits this year in R4.
Those are the facts! When Princeton had their starting Defense in the game the O line could not handle what they were doing. The first 3 drives Springfield had negative yards. Then they got a first down on a boot play, then they got a 5 yard catch turned into a 50 yard play, got down to the 3 and couldn’t score. Princeton played one more series then they came out.

Wayne 21 Findlay 0

2 qtr varsity scrimmage. Wayne starting QB went 4-4 for 160 yards and 2 TD's in the first qtr. Threw another TD pass in the 2nd qtr. Had well over 200 yards passing.

Defense must be playing decent too. isn’t that Findlay qb committed to Georgia?

Yes, Montgomery is committed to Georgia, but each of Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame stopped recruiting him despite initially offering him, so you wonder if he’s THAT good.

It was bend not break defense. Couple of miss tackles led to big gains. For a scrimmage they were pretty solid. Sacked the Findlay QB 4 times.... well, it was scrimmage so the whistle blew when anyone got close to him.

Yes, he is committed to Georgia and is ranked the 9th top QB in the nation for what ever that is worth.

Wayne's WR's are fast!

Well Georgia is the preseason number one and has won two national championships since 2021 compared to one of those other three I’d say he is that good. Osu probably stopped recruiting him when they got the line on st Clair. Thais is coming from an osu fan.

This is high school football, so let's just say this.......Montgomery is going to have a great Fall 2024

And they finally got a kicker !

Fairmont kicks off the season tonight against Alter. If they lose tonight and the way the schedule is now, there is a chance they could be 0-6 heading into October.

Scrimmages are about as reliable as NFL preseason games are in assessing a team's performance overall. News flash - they're intentionally not playing their best to avoid injuries. Springfield will be just fine this year, as always.

Winton Woods 16-6 over Springfield.

The Warriors beat up on the Wildcats up front all night. Springfield couldn’t block their guys (particularly Alabama commit Justin Hill), and switched QBs early going with a smaller, shiftier player under center.

Winton Woods had to be well over 100 yards in penalties. Special teams were big with Springfield having significant issues on snaps leading to 9 points for Winton Woods off of blocked punts while also having two FGs blocked. The punter for Winton Woods had multiple punts that seemed to go straight up with hang time yet fell within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.

Winton Woods is loaded. Despite enormous issues up front and with special teams, I think Springfield will be alright by the end of the year as long as they avoid any disastrous injuries next week against their DC opponent.

Well you won't have to worry about the Bolts...what a poorly coached team. Butler looks good and really outclassed the Bolts.
I’d say this is a good indication why Works and Brew bailed. Bolts look undersized. Young and inexperienced and horribly coached. First I was kinda upset at them for bailing but now I’d say I can’t blame them. Something is definitely wrong at Northmont

Following up on this. Springfield during that Princeton scrimmage played everyone. No one sat out or anything. The only kid that didn’t play was the WR that has the offers and it wasn’t to prevent injury. The way they looked last night is the same way they looked against Princeton and Trinity. The run is over. Unless a miracle happens on Offense. The defense will keep them in the ball game. But you can definitely tell the difference in the coaching skill set of the DC vs the New OC. The defense will be on the field all game next week.

Defense shutout WW in 2d half. SHS won 2d half last night. And I heard Upshaw was out with injuries. Same script as last year where they ended up tied up with the state championship mid way thru 4th qtr of the title game. Douglass develops players quickly. The players are part of a program that's used to winning. Plus WW is a very good team with star players.

SHS won 2d half and shutout WW. Plus they had red zone scoring chances, even down at the 8. Despite injuries, they kept it respectable and could have won.

No it’s not the same script as last year. Last year they won their first game. This year it’s looking like an 0-3 start. And last year team was waaayyy more talented compared to this year team. Last year team had players that played a lot of mins on the first two state runs. You can’t say that about this team. You might got a handful of guys with the experience. And Douglass is a great manager. The DC is the developer. He built a staff around him that made him successful. Then he lost key staff members on the offensive side. So what we are seeing is the defensive still looking how they’ve been looking for years and the offensive looking like ok now what. These are just the facts. That great run is over watch.

Man stop it. They had one injury. And they weren’t close to winning. They got beat up all night. If number #8 wasn’t at QB it could have gotten ugly. Luckily the defense is good. So yea they did a great job on that side of the ball. But again it goes back to the offensive play calling. The best thing that happened to that offense was #8 going from slot to QB. He was quick enough to get to the edge. And that tired WW at times. But other than that…Nothing. Next week might see a running clock.

The first quarter told me everything I needed to see about the Bolts. Look how many guys got run off for equipment issues. Down 21 points there were guys laughing and smiling on the sideline. It is clear that it is time for a change in Clayton.

In the 2022 season Springfield started 3 sophomores and a freshman on the offensive line. They all started in the state championship game. All 4 of those kids are still at Springfield and playing football. I am shocked that they do not have a dominant line this year. I figured they would be really good at running the ball.

They have played 3 really good opponents. And the region they play in is very bad. I would still have them as the heavy favorite to get to the final four.
