Greatest 200m field ever!

Lancermania

Lancers lead the way!
The DI Wayne regional was suspended after the girls 100m. The timed final in the boys 200m heat two has got to be the greatest ever assembled from top to bottom, all eight runners are under 22 seconds, amazing.

1 Mir Ashraf Mason 21.83
2 Justin Re Elder 21.58
3 Koy Beasley LaSalle 21.55
4 Mekhi Lynn Princeton 21.30
5 Rashid Harris Sycamore 21.35
6 Timiko Jackson LaSalle 21.35
7 Tennel Bryant Moeller 21.73
8 Jasiah Medley Piqua 21.81

This post is the perfect example of why (outside of the the true elite sprinters like Justin Braun) it's hard to compare times that were ran at different venues under different conditions.

These times were the top 8 from district meets where there was between a +0.6 to +3.7 tailwind and I believe all ran on a day where the overall conditions were perfect for sprinters (low to mid 80s, no rain and lower humidity).

At the regional, not one of those guys broke 22 seconds, with the winning time being 22.10 in either a -1.1 or a -1.5 headwind depending on which heat. So not even a horrible wind day ... like say the Macedonia district last week where runners were going into a -7.8 headwind).

This regional now goes into the state meet with four of the bottom five times from the four regions, but chances are one or two of those runners will reach the finals.

Best 200m duo ever to run at the old Dayton Region 4 meet was Chris Nelloms (Dunbar) vs. Mario Allmon (Princeton) on 28 May 1990. That was a barn burner.

Nelloms - 20.60
Allmon - 21.08

Legal wind
The Chris Nelloms/Robert Smith 400m showdown in 1989 still makes me shake my head. Shoulder to shoulder for 400 meters in Ohio Stadium. Nelloms by a whisker. A thrill to watch.
