I disagree, East is the better team. Fairfield has a better top 3 players, but after that East is better in pretty much every other aspect. Team chemistry is huge. East has players 1 through 12 that all not just know the system but are fully bought into the the program. They also have tremendous depth. They have 10 players that can be interchanged without much drop off. Thats key not just for being able to continue to score when you starters aren't in, but it allows them to continue that tough pressure defense through the entire game without worrying of getting tired.
Fairfield on the other hand, doesn't have the depth. I also question their ability to stay disciplined when they have a lead. I saw a team that can quickly get sloppy when they have a comfortable lead, allowing teams they should be destroying to claw back into games.
With that said, without seeing any other team yet, besides from what was at this weekend's showcase, East and Fairfield are the 2 teams to beat in Cincinnati. I'm always going to assume Moeller is in that group as well. After those 3, I don't know. Mason, West, X and Elder fall into the next tier below, with Mason being the best of those 3. My prediction is Dudukovich is going to get frustrated with his team before the end of the year. I didn't see any young talent shining through for them, like some here have said they have. He's going to get his, but it's going to be primarily by him creating points on his own. Elder is your typical Elder team. Not very talented, but will try to physically grind the game down to a halt and shoot a lot of 3's. It will win them some games against middle of the pack teams, but I don't see them getting many wins from top level teams. Carmel may be the 2 time defending state champs, but their team this year is down from that level of play. Thus Elder hanging with them yesterday. I wasn't impressed by X either. Pretty average looking to me. Moeller should run away with the GCLS, probably going undefeated in the league.
