Fitch wants to move up

Not surprised. They will be the favorite in whatever division they are in.
Path might be easier next year, WJ ,AW,,and WM will not only take a step back next year one would believe IMO,and most likely remain in D2. Who are some possible contenders in D1 next year?

I wonder if the OHSAA will make it public before the deadline who is moving up? Depending on the sport, might be some teams choose to move up or stay down to avoid certain teams.

Link? Per head coach they are D1
I never seen a release from the OHSAA about move ups in spring sports. Fitch had until September 13 to let state know. Div 1 might be easier to win then 2. I wonder when fitch found out she was not playing senior season

AUSTINTOWN — For the last two years, Austintown Fitch has reached the pinnacle of high school softball in the state of Ohio — back-to-back Division I state championships.

With the growth from four divisions to seven, Fitch was slated to drop down to Division II. But the Falcons want to continue to play against the biggest and toughest schools, so they opted instead to continue to play in Division I.

“Our girls were not very happy about being dropped to D2, and as soon as we talked to them about it, they immediately said, ‘Is there any way we could go up to one?'” head coach Steve Ward said. “It was their mindset that we’re a Division I team. We want to be going after all the big schools, and that’s just our attitude and mindset — we’re going to go after the biggest, toughest division any chance we can.”

Looks like the teams that moved up to D1 were:

Austintown Fitch
Magnificat
St Joseph Academy
Kenston - they are moving up from D3.

The teams that moved down to D2 were:
Normandy
Westerville North
Watkins Memorial

D2 hands down will be the tougher division.
