They should be paying more, as such the effects of “road use” are based on vehicle weight, and it’s long overdue. An electric Volvo XC40 weighs about 1000 pounds more than it’s gasoline counterpart, and an electric F150 weighs about 1600 pounds more than a gasoline truck. They should be paying more for insurance as well, because the added weight will inflict more damage vehicle in an at-fault accident.Oh they will be charged.
