Division VI and VII Football All-Ohio

IMO, there's a few things that hinder MAC kids/coaches from getting state recognition...

1. A lot of people just assume they're going to be the best of the best year in and year out, so they look for newcomers. For example, in DVI this year, Chip and Tiger have been there, so who's a coach that did something exceptional for the first time or for the first time in awhile. You could give Goodwin COY every year, but voters will vote for someone like Hillsdale's HC because it was their first time...

2. Unlike a lot of other leagues, the MAC is almost secretive with their stats. They typically don't come out until final Week 10 tallies, when they vote for All-MAC and even then, they're hard to find. Most leagues around the state use the same website set up, where stats are just a few clicks to find.

Those 2 things combined equal out to MAC schools being underrepresented/ overlooked when All-State is realesed. Again, Just my opinion.
Point taken but in your quote...

"so who's a coach that did something exceptional for the first time or for the first time in awhile?"

A senior player dies in pre-season, and Chip was able to keep the team focused through the season, past the ML loss and win State against a storied program in Kirtland.

Chip was overlooked.....again
He has NEVER gotten this award. 🙄

I agree 1000% Chip should’ve received it this year. If you want to recognize other coaches that have done something exceptional, turned around a bad program, etc, then fine. But to not have the state champ coach at least share the award cheapens the whole thing IMO

I would agree otten should have gotten something, but then you look at what Tiger did with Kirtland. Qb1 out from week 6 to 14. Starting MLB out from week 8 to 14. Starting CB out from week 6 to 15.

3 very good players out for a long portion of season and still put a running clock on every team faced till week week 16. Only other game that didn’t have a running clock was Perry.

I agree he should have gotten COY. But like I said, the thought process of those making this decision look to see which coach did something for the first time because they feel that Chip, Tim, Tiger are just always good. Not saying I agree with it.

Might say something about their SOS. But probably has as much to do with their next man up philosophy.

Didn't Tiger get a share?

Courious, is this Tiger's first?

4th or 5th I believe. Which makes Chip’s omission from this list comical at this point over the course of his Coldwater career. Should have won the award in 2012 & should have won it this year, but that’s my Kirtland bias showing. Probably should have won at least one additional share of the award besides those two seasons as well.

He’s in the OHSFCA Hall of Fame which is one of the highest honors for a coach, but I’m sure he won’t make a big deal about not having a state coach of the year honor because that seems like the kind of great guy he is.

Agreed.
2010 could've been good year also. With it being Chip's 1st year as HC after the passing of John Reed, and making it to the State Final game.
For me, it's not as much that he didn't get it, as it is to "why" he hasn't gotten it. 😉

By my count Chip has been to the State Finals as a football coach 10 times. It is a All-Time travesty that he hasn't been named Coach of the year just once. This is just blatant at this point. At this point I'm wondering if he has to have a terrible season like 4 wins and 6 losses to earn Coach of the Year. This truly is borderline criminal.

ALL District, All State should be selected after the playoffs are over. The writers would get to see players from different parts of the district, state that they had not seen play.
