So who votes on this? Trying to wrap my head around how Watterson only has 5 players across all levels and teams who they running clocked are better or equally represented and one team has twice as many representatives. I kind of hope it's b/c Central Ohio is unrepresented in voters but then again Bloom Carrol has just as many recipients and Hartley only has 1 fewer.

Mike Elder should have been the lone HCOY. No offense but Walnut Ridge didn't beat anyone and lost in the 1st round, I don't get it.

Avon got more players than any other team, they are fine. And, if you use the argument that they won it, I'd contend last year they had as many if not more, but didn't win it all.

Elder sharing HCOY, on the back of winning it with Moore last year is fine. Let it go.

If he hadn't won it last year, I'd be more inclined to agree with you.

I was just stating an opinion, I was not "not letting it go." Moore should have been loan winner last year, and Elder this year. That's all, got nothing more to say about that.

Not a big fan of co's and triple co's. Like the 3 qb's. Make a decision! Lol. No biggie, congrats to all.

Idk if you are old enough but back in the day the 1st team was 11 guys on O, and 11 on D. Period.

Today heads would explode. I mean, we got 25 All-Ohio LB's in D2, not counting honorable mention. Ok cool.
I'm not old enough to fully remember that, but I like the idea of reducing the number of players listed.

The issue would be the politics involved and how competitive the schedule was that they played.

I mean, look at the honorable mention lists for D2 & D3.

Yes old enough to remember the all Ohio teams of the early 80’s, where yes it was a team not just 2 out of every 3 kids that are on the all district teams.
All of the Chad’s and Karen’s will throw a fit if little Timmy doesn’t get a ribbon. 🙄

It needs to start at the district level, because coaches are nominating a dozen kids and the panelists are afraid to anger a coach so everybody gets something.
The worst perpetrators, in my opinion, are in the East District. One year, there were teams with 2 or 3 wins getting 6, 7 kids on all-district.
The state teams come from that, and basically, if you are first or second team all-district you're making the All-Ohio team.
Like the number of playoff teams, that genie is not going back in the bottle.

Personally, I'd like to see the all-district and all-state teams capped at 25-30 total players for first team, 25-30 for second team and 25-30 for special mention, including (if one is worthy) a kicker, a punter, a returner and all-around.
Shoot, the year my school won the state championship in the 1990s we averaged more than 38 points per game and had 1 kid make first or second-team All-Ohio.
Just my $0.02. Like I said, it ain't happenin' anytime soon

Don’t get how Wapak’s QB gets first team in div. 3 but his top target only gets honorable mention…Page had 88 catches for over 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns, arguably the best receiver/qb tandem in Northwest Ohio and region 12

Couldn’t agree more. Additionally if you simply look at the state of the program pre-Kennedy until now how is he not a coach of the year?

What year?

If you created an all star team of the D3 selections this season, and put that team vs TCC, and Ursuline the fighting Irish (whichever) would win by two to three scores, and Watterson would running clock that all star team.

The number of players that were picked all state who play on teams that TCC, Ursuline, and Watterson running clocked, and then players that play on teams that were running clocked by those teams that got running clocked by those 3 - it is embarrassing. Almost every starter from each of those three teams should have appeared somewhere on this list (first team thru HM).

I was just thinking same exact thing

If only you and Uncle Rico could go back in time and change it all!

Lima Senior's QB was 3rd in the nation in passing yards and threw for 58 TD's yet isn't one of the top 14 QB's in D2? His top target made 1st team. I get that their schedule wasn't good, but those numbers are ridiculous.

Coach Kennedy is hands down the coach of the year. He coached the team to the state title and only had 5 players make All-Ohio! John Glenn had 6 kids make All-Ohio and they couldn't even make the playoffs in the same region as Watterson! Masterful coaching job to achieve what he did with such little talent. Sarcasm obviously, except for the part about Coach Kennedy deserving coach of the year.

I see that Liberty only had 4 kids make All-Ohio so guessing this is a product of Central Ohio having fewer voters than the rest of the state or the voters they do have being real lazy. Not to take anything away from the kids who were honored but as others have said these teams have become a joke. There should be a first team and a second team with 24-26 players on each and then if you want to give kid's participation trophies use special/honorable mention for that. And the voters should be evenly distributed across the state. Maybe there should be All-Yappi teams chosen by honorable posters on this forum?

Look at all the people on here complaining about a kid not being on the list, or bitching about not being on a higher level of the All State team.

If you cut it back to what is SHOULD BE - like what you suggested, then the amount of complainers increases.

Its unbelievable that Kennedy wasn't Coach of the year in D3. No disrespect to the winner but good lord. The buzz in the preseason was Watterson would fall off after losing a generational MLB and QB. Instead we got PERFECTION.... What Coach Kennedy has done is simply incredible.

And yes, they got the easy one's right. Bellisari, Weber and Eglitis but like somebody else commented, in truth, more then 50% of watty starters should be somewhere on the D3 lists. Seems to be a bit bias. Also, are you telling me for OPOY that TSC had a better year then Zack Weber on Offense? No way I'm buying that. Name recognition and hype won out.

It’s the OLD Subjective Selection. Everybody gets a Trophy. Names Matter.
Even if they were substandard. Recruiting Status Matters.
I have seen a lot of 5 stars that can’t hold a Walk-On’s
Athletic Supporter. I think it should just be 11-O. 11-D
Punter&Kicker.
