Trying to get used to this new format. These 39 teams feed into three districts. The districts are Canton, North Ridgeville, and Stow. Maybe someone can enlighten us about the seeding process and how teams choose which district...

Here are the MartinRPI.com rankings for all 39 teams:

Canton is a great place to play but looking at the geography of these teams, not too many are what would be labeled Canton area. Well over half would be considered Cleveland area schools. Going to be some long trips for schools matched up in the early rounds from different areas.

The Stark schools always get offended because schools from other counties fill out what they consider “their district.”

Just for fun, I used these ratings to split the teams into each district without regards to geography. This would be the districts:

I believe teams are voted on by the other coaches similar to when there is one district. After the teams are seeded they have a conference call with all the coaches and they get to pick what district and what line on the bracket they want, going in order of where they are seeded. So whoever is seeded/voted #1 they get to choose first, then #2 and so on. One thing to remember if you pick District (#5) North Ridgeville, you don't go to the Canton Regional #5, you go to the Bowling Green Regional #6.

Teams must enter Bios by Feb 2, vote by Feb 5, and the Draw is Feb 6.

Isn’t that how Buchtel ended up playing Lima Shawnee last season for the NW Regional Title and trip to Columbus?

Exactly!

My annual complaint. A top seed that chooses to play a first round game should not be hosting a team in the second round that got a bye in the first round. The byes are reserved for the top teams. All teams that pick the bye game should be hosting in the second round, even if they are the lowest rated team. We need to get rid of top seeded teams choosing two huge blowouts at home in the first two rounds when a bye was available.

Home teams should be based on line on the bracket (ie top line is always home team). The top seeded team then has the option of taking the highest line or another route. They shouldn't be given home court if they don't choose that top line.

Do teams get a cut of home game revenue in the playoffs? Not sure but if they do that is an incentive for getting as many home games as possible, also I have heard higher seeded teams some times don't want that extra time off to avoid rust.

Home teams should be based on line on the bracket (ie top line is always home team). The top seeded team then has the option of taking the highest line or another route. They shouldn't be given home court if they don't choose that top line.
That’s a reward for being the top seed tho isn’t it? If a team chooses to not be rusty they should have that right. I still think there should be no home games and all playoffs for all sports should be at a neutral site

In almost every sport, the reward is the bye. A team that chooses not to take that reward shouldn't be given two rewards because the disparity in talent is so great in OHSAA basketball. I get tired of seeing the 1 seed play the lowest seed in round one and the second lowest seed in round two. They have chosen to adopt the running clock because blowouts are too common and then create situations where blowouts are likely to happen. Make the top seeds choose whether to take the bye and host in round two or host the round one game and travel in round two.

I know that this doesn't solve potential blowouts by traveling in round two but it does take away from a team by inconveniencing the team and their fans by traveling to another school.

JMO but I'm tired of watching 1 seeds coast in two meaningless games that do not have to happen. I would rather those two bottom seeds get a chance at a reasonable game before getting run over.

Voting is done.

Anyone know Glenville’s record? For the district voting it’s listed as 11-4. However martinrpi has them at 7-5 and Maxpreps has them at 6-5.

Nonetheless, #4 seems high with them having no wins that I can see outside the Senate League.

The fact that they're higher than CVCA is a bit odd.

This doesn’t tell us which District they are going to.

I assume SVSM get their pick of the four. Buchtel then chooses from the remaining three, etc?

Not sure why? it's the only District that doesn't funnel to Canton where they would meet st. V's. Now they're guaranteed not to meet Stevie's until the semi-finals. Or finals. I wouldn't be surprised if the two coaches got on the phone and agreed to go two separate regions.
"Stevie's" LOL. Just saw that. Damn talk to text and auto correct will get you every time . . .
