IMHO, that's the secret to Hoban's recent success: their ability to attract and massage the egos of football-first dads who push and live through their kids (see: Hoban posters on here).Kudos to Hoban for establishing a relationship with families, but if they worm turned and another program came into greater prominence than Hoban, many of those families would bail to the more high exposure program. That's not an indictment on Hoban, that's the nature of the beast.

Hoban has a little advantage in keeping the ball rolling even if they lose. No other school in the greater Akron area comes close to the program. Walsh has improved by Hoban still manhandles them. SVSM is a mess. (I'm not considering Stark County greater Akron). Secondly, they've developed what is essentially an in-house travel youth program. They may well lose the kids whose dads will take them two or three counties away to play but the rest will stick.IMHO, that's the secret to Hoban's recent success: their ability to attract and massage the egos of football-first dads who push and live through their kids (see: Hoban posters on here).
And that, to a degree, is what makes this a pivotal year for Hoban. No ring this year, and a lot of those dads (already enrolled or potential future) are going to start looking elsewhere. Because they didn't enroll to leave with no rings.
There's also the factor of educational (not necessarily athletic) options. It's not clear how many of these families put education before athletics as the path of greater benefit, but Hoban's primary drawing area isn't exactly a hotbed of highly-regarded public school districts. If you've got a choice between APS and Hoban in that regard, well...Hoban has a little advantage in keeping the ball rolling even if they lose. You're either not paying attention or you're not the sharpest tool in the shed. Crable was torn apart on here halfway into his season as the starter and was TOTALLY torn apart after the season ended. The staff went out and brought in another kid (Crable moved to WR which is where Nate wanted him to play to begin with) and that kid was not only degraded on here but the elder Crable went out of his way on social media to degrade the....KID....to which a Massillon coach even defended hiM on social media.I think they were treated really well…I’ve lost track of how many rings they collected at Hoban (I’m sure Cougar can help me). Not only did Massillon lose the 1st QB for how he was treated…they lost his TE brother (multiple rings) and other brother.
There are some pretty academically bad school districts in Summit County but there are some very good suburban ones from which Hoban draws, including suburbs in other counties. Those suburban kids may well be the kids of the "football first" dads you mentioned above. There's also the factor of educational (not necessarily athletic) options. Not sure that someone who supports a school district that recently got 2.5 stars (out of 5 and one of the lowest in Stark County) should be opining on highly regarded public school districtsThere's also the factor of educational (not necessarily athletic) options.
