Are they getting better, though? This year it was only 37-0 but there was no way Harrison was ever going to score if they had three games worth of possessions. As for that region I also think Harrison could be another team to look out for, they are getting better, but they have yet to get over the hump by beating La Salle.
With talawanda exiting the SWOC and I’m sure Mt Healthy and Northwest will being finding a different home, they will probably have to schedule some GCL teams. I think Elder and La Salle would both be 100% willing to play Harrison ongoing every year. Are they getting better, though? This year it was only 37-0 but there was no way Harrison was ever going to score if they had three games worth of possessions.
The playoffs scores against La Salle have been:
56-24
45-10
45-8
42-14
37-0
Harrison needs to start playing better competition throughout the season if they ever want to really compete for a regional title. Schedule La Salle or Elder during the regular season for a number of seasons.
I agree, people say why schedule someone you're going to meet in the playoffs, but I personally disagree. I'd love to see Massillon schedule LaSalle, Hoban, Walsh, Avon....not all in the same season in you but I'd like it.Are they getting better, though? I'd hope so. I'd love to have more local games. With talawanda exiting the SWOC and I’m sure Mt Healthy and Northwest will being finding a different home, they will probably have to schedule some GCL teams. I think Elder and La Salle would both be 100% willing to play Harrison ongoing every year.
Harrison/Elder would be a great new “west side” rivalry! Harrison and La Salle kind of seems like a no-brainer matchup to me. Both R8 with multiple weeks open later in the season. I just think Harrison needs to say F it and play them both!I'd hope so. I'd love to have more local games.
It would be hard to envision someone breaking through to knock of the past 6 winners. Avon we all knew has been the "knocking on the door" potential breakthrough for awhile now. Does Walsh return their QB? Does Anderson return a lot? Those would be my first 2 questions. That’s six different champs in the last six years.
2019 - LaSalle
2020 - Hoban
2021 - Winton Woods
2022 - Toledo CC
2023 - Massillon
2024 - Avon
Will the trend hold? The likeliest to do it next year would be, IMO, Walsh Jesuit, Highland, DeSales, Anderson.
You know who does return a lot? Big Walnut. It would awesome to see BW face a highly motivated Massillon in the R7 final. The Tigers will have revenge on their mind and BW will be fired up to take the next step.It would be hard to envision someone breaking through to knock of the past 6 winners. I'll pass on that. I'll take a rematch between Anderson and Avon. LOL!You know who does return a lot? Big Walnut. It would awesome to see BW face a highly motivated Massillon in the R7 final. The Tigers will have revenge on their mind and BW will be fired up to take the next step.
Massillon has a lot of battle tested talent returning on D despite losing 3 all state players on that side of the ball. On offense they need to replace their QB, RB, 2 wr's, their 1st string TE and 4 of 5 starting linemen, so there's a lot of work to do before we can even think about reching the regional final. You know who does return a lot? Anderson had an undefeated jv team and probably the best freshman team I seen personally in the ECC (not sure what their record was).Anderson has to answer a lot of questions. A lot of young talent on defense (two all state sections that were sophomores). Replacing QB, TE and top WR. Saying that they have a lot of young talent on offense. I think will Scalif (young qb) be able to play well like his older brother and will Jalik the younger be able to get close to his brother who was a senior this year.
Walsh does not return the QB but are VERY high on the QB that will be stepping in. They do return alot in the backfield, Milan Parris at WR, and lots of experienced players on defense, led by Caden Carter and Jay Brewer. Mostly need to rebuild on the OL and DL but do return Colton Crosley. It would be hard to envision someone breaking through to knock of the past 6 winners. I agree that Wadsworth should be loaded. But it seems that they always have some head scratching performances.Wadsworth's loaded class of 26' will all be seniors, (and all healthy by next szn)with talented starting QB returning.
I love what Alexander is doing there, but I'm thinking they will take a small step backwards next year. The new QB might be a little more physically impressive than Moten, but Moten's heart is going to be something that will be difficult to replace. I'm not sold on their WR's. Athletic, yes. But they don't always do the thing that is supposed to differentiate themselves from DB's.Walsh does not return the QB but are VERY high on the QB that will be stepping in. Massillon should have as much talent as anyone in D2. But I do agree - talent doesn't always get the job done.Surprised you of all people did not mention it, but the work Massillon has to do is between the ears. They will be the most talented team in R7. Either by a little or alot. I understand BW returns some key pieces and new confidence.
Highland may have been the second best team in the division this year. Will the Hornets bring most starters back?
I think Massillon proved that against Big Walnut.Massillon should have as much talent as anyone in D2. But I do agree - talent doesn't always get the job done.
Don’t worry, that will NOT happen again.I think Massillon proved that against Big Walnut.
For what is it worth, Highland loses their starting senior QB every year. They simply do not start non-seniors at QB.AW and Highland lose their senior QBs for next year.
Won't happen again when you go out and recruit a whole new team...Don’t worry, that will NOT happen again.

Yes, the MCSD is open enrollment.Pardon my ignorance, but it seems like every thread on this forum eventually devolves into a "they recruit", public vs. private, or who's in what division debate and I would like to know how these public schools recruit. In closed school districts, are boosters getting apartments for families? Are they letting kids use their addresses for registration? I promise I'm not being facetious, it's an honest to goodness question.
Is Massillon open enrolment? I know Avon isn't and I've seen people say they recruit, but that seems crazy to me.
Private schools I can understand, they can let anyone into their schools they want. Some might be more flexible than others with admissions standards, but I get that.
Wait until Highland breaks through and wins one, then they’ll be accused of recruiting too. The main criteria is you have to be contending at the state level, then other places get upset with you.Pardon my ignorance, but it seems like every thread on this forum eventually devolves into a "they recruit", public vs. private, or who's in what division debate and I would like to know how these public schools recruit. From your keyboard to His ears, lol.Wait until Highland breaks through and wins one
