Coaches accuse some high schools of cheating in Ohio track and field

Schools have boys and girls teams, some of whom attend different meets. A school can have a varsity and a JV team, each with a different schedule. Heck, a school could have 2 varsity teams (e.g. a red squad and a black squad), each with a different schedule.

Using Milesplit to try to identify schools with more than 16 meets is silly because Milesplit will lump all of these situations onto the same schedule for the school as far as I can tell.

Milesplit shows us with 9 meets. There are 4 dual/ double dual meets not showing. One of the meets is a JV only. We have in the past sent one kid or a few to a meet. I know that counts, but it might only be a girl, so it wouldn't count for the boys.

We have held meets where schools did not show, but they are still listed on milesplit.

Not sure this is as big a problem as the coaches that are complaining are making it out to be. Milesplit is far from 100% accurate. I don't want to discourage teams from scheduling meets for their JV kids. Not the intent of the rule.

ooops. This did not post for about an hour.

On this note also, I confirmed with ohsaa earlier this year that a double dual counts as many meets as there are teams so if you have a double dual with 4 schools total then it will count as 3 meets for your school. We wanted to host a double dual championship meet with like 8 schools but were told it would count as 7 meets for each school. Again a stupid rule.

In a world full of double-dumb arse arbitary rules, that one is right up there. Geez.
