Swim season is done and were on to the spring. There will be a few club teams getting things going this year.

Moose has a spring session open to anyone from any school. Non-polo schools are welcome into the mix. We'll take tournament trips to Michigan, PA, and hopefully Chicago and St Louis.

Pretty sure AMDG and Dayton and UA and SC will have some summer things as well.

Moose will host the Jose Cerda Memorial tournament this year again. Lots f interest from all around the Midwest already!

We will also have a Fall season for moose. Open for any non polo school.

Yes - if you want to play polo during high school season - and you don't have a team at your school - Moose is your team. Open to anyone / any level / any school.

Going to be a crazy club season! Woop!

Moose teams head to Ann Arbor (Saline HS for girls) and Pittsburgh (Chartiers Valley HS for boys) April 19-21.

This will be a nice start to the club season, and really find out where we stack up against the region. The boys and girls will also field a team for the JO Qualifier in June, and match up against the best of the midwest. We'll have a couple tournaments between the april tourney and the JOQ. Boys took 13th last year, and girls didn't send a team, but beat the 5th(?...maybe 4th?) place team. Setting up for a good spring season.

Girls team just completed their first tournament of the year (first time playing since October)
6-1 loss vs Huron - 1st game in 6 months...would have been a much different story had it been our last game of the tourney. Missed 2 5m shots which would have made it 4-3 at one point.
12-2 win over Saline B - wasn't as close as score indicates
9-2 win over Groves - same.
9-2 win over Seaholm - same.

3 wins with 0 1st half goals given up. Huron #2 ranked in michigan and we played em very well to open things up. We will be putting together a JO Qualifier team and will play in a few more tournaments leading up to it. Strong start for the Moose ladies this weekend.

Moose headed to Pitt this weekend with boys and girls. Schedule:

Saturday:
1:50pm vs. Navy - Boys
4:15pm vs. Villa - Girls
7:30pm vs. Kingfish - Boys
8:20pm vs. North Penn - girls

Sunday:
9:10am vs. Kingfish - Girls
1:20pm vs. McDowell - Boys
3:50pm vs. Tiger WP - Girls
4:30pm vs. Tiger WP - Boys

Should be a good weekend. Will post results afterwards.

Bit of an update on club polo.

Both boys and girls played very well in Pitt.

This past weekend we went to the Junior Olympic Qualifier - Chicago and Ann Arbor.

Girls took 3rd in the Midwest and boys 7th In The Midwest.

Both qualify for the National Junior Olympics in LA in July / August.

Boys made lower division (49-84 ranked) and girls qualified in upper division (top 48 in the nation).

1st Ohio teams to qualify ever - pretty exciting stuff.

Go Moose!

Well done! Great to see success at the club level. It would seem that Cincinnati is or has become the center of water polo in Ohio. Any word about new teams in the high school game...Cincinnati or elsewhere. Presumably Dayton Oakwood is continuing its program and perhaps will play in the tournament this year. Any other new start ups?

Thanks!! We're very excited about the growth were having.

We're hoping to add moose as a hs team this or next year. Also looking for Walnut Hills to add in a year or two. Oakwood is getting there. Would really like to see Cleveland join the party. Moose has a couple non-polo schools in our program - need a few more and we'll definitely add it!

Haven't seen the boys list yet - but we had 4 All-Americans on the girl side.
Maureen Sullivan - 1st team
Katie Caldwell - 2nd team
Anna Condron - 4th team
Erin Glass - 5th team

All but katie return next year. Fun year lining up!!!

the boys all americans were all from ua:
thomas trace-junior-ua-1st team
nick sievert-senior-ua-3rd team
joey long-senior-ua-4th team

A bit of an early plug...but still worth getting out there.

The JCAF has been a huge part of helping water polo grow, not just in Cincinnati - but around the state as well. Any contributions there will definitely go a long way.

Now that polo season is around the corner, who is coming back at the various high schools and who is going to be considered the early favorites to get to the final four. St. Francis has most of their team returning from last year. They have some very fast swimmers who are long and this year some have played in a league up in Ann Arbor. They should be very good and one of the teams at the final four. How about the other schools.

Here are the results of the Ann Arbor Early Bird Tournament. Games involving Ohio schools are in bold. Looking at results it appears that while Ohio schools remain competitive with most Michigan teams, they are dominated by the top Michigan schools. That probably is a reflection of the facilities available in Michigan as well as the number of schools playing polo. Growth in the number of teams is important for Ohio to continue to compete with Michigan schools.

AA Pioneer 5, Hudsonville 2
AA Huron 17, Dexter 0
Thomas Worthington 14, Saline 7
Jenison 15, AA Skyline 5

it really looks like huron and rockford are 10-15 goals better then anyone else in state up there, other then those two the ohio teams competed well
it would appear as if sc and ua are the class of ohio right now, maybe sycamore, tw and sf, anyone see the teams play up there that can help rank them?

Waaaaaaaaay too early to crown this year's champion, rjones. There's a lot of polo yet to play and who looks good in August isn't necessarily on top in October. Besides...you're declaring dominance of a team whose single Ohio victory was by 1 goal. It looks to me from the scores that TW, St.F, UA, & SC are all about even. I think you can add St.X & Sycamore into that mix. This could be a very balanced field this year.

I was in Ann Arbor this weekend and came away with 2 things:

1-Michigan teams are just plain better. They all play in deep pools and just look much better, especially Rockford and Huron, and

2-There is not a dominate team in Ohio this year. UA is still very good, but not even close to last year's team. This could be the most competitive year in a long time in Ohio.

Think you're right on the money buckeyedr. Ohio teams were 5 & 9 against Michigan teams and they didn't lose only to Rockford & Huron who are the top teams in Michigan by a wide margin. No question, the Michigan teams are better. At this point the best Ohio teams would struggle for inclusion in the top half of the Michigan teams. Although this has been the case for most Ohio teams for a number of years, this year it is true across the board. I can't remember the last time an Ohio team dominated a Michigan tournament. And clearly this year there is parity in Ohio. The team that wins the state will be the team that progresses and improves consistently throughout the season. Right now the field is wide open. Should make for a fun season!!

Disagree. UA is in the elite. They return to Michigan in September (Ohio just doesn't challenge them) and will play with the top teams at Birmingham. The Bears are the dominant Ohio team!

Ohio doesn't challenge them? Heard they got beat by Thomas last night 10-8.
