Yes sir, the ChiSox have only won 31 games but 5 of those wins came against the Guardians. The series stands at 5-5 for the season at the moment. The Guards have to play them between the Dodgers and Rays and Twins. If this were football, and it was one game of course, we might call that a "trap" game.

KC avoided the sweep, not the result we were hoping for, but the Guardians did win the series and there is good news pretty much everywhere else as the Twins, Orioles and Astros all lost also and the Yankees are down 7-2 in the 6th. Enjoy the day off and bring on the Dodgers.

The sweep would have been a lot to ask for, especially with Lugo going for KC, but tonight does show just how much weight is attached to these September games. A win tonight by CLE would just about buried KC and MIN, as well as put one more game between CLE and HOU and picked up a game on BAL and NYY. All games matter all season, but the magnitude of wins and losses in September seem so much greater.

He left the Tuesday night game in the 8th inning with back spasms. On the broadcast last night they said he was available if needed, that they were just giving him an extra day off before the scheduled off day today. It sounds like he is OK. I guess we'll see tomorrow night. Hopefully he is OK as they need to be at full strength for the Dodgers.

While true I for one would be more than happy to take a Guardians 9-game winning streak and then go from there. :)

The Guards will however lower their magic number by at least 1 against the loser of every game in that Royals-Twins series no matter what they do against the Dodgers.

Mr. Boyd has been outstanding since he was activated. I thought they were going to give up the lead in the 8th but that inning-ending DP with the bases loaded bailed them out. Huge play. A 3-1 start to this 9-game road trip IMO means they should go home no worse than 5-4 and hopefully better. Go out and win the series tonight guys.

Magic number down to 17 against KC, 16 against the Twins. Since the Guards have the tie-breaker against Minnesota I would like to see them beat KC the next two games.

I was watching until 1:00 AM counting the post game show. I admit in the 8th I thought that was going to be a game where the Guards lost when leading after 6 innings but that play effectively sealed it for the good guys.

I watched it to the end, as well. It’s not like we get to see the Dodgers often. Boyd is getting it done! Rocchio has some big hits lately. On Wednesday night everyone the G’s needed to lose all lost…but so did they, so no ground was gained. Last night, all those teams won..,and so did the G’s, so no ground was gained. Baseball is crazy.

True but their magic number dropped against all of those teams, two against the Twins. Hopefully Minnesota can bounce back and take the series against KC and then the Yankees can help the Guards out against the Royals while Cleveland is playing the ChiSox. That magic number could drop significantly if that happens.

I’m getting greedy. I want Game 1, 2 and a possible Game 5 vs Houston in CLE. And I want Game 1, 2 and a possible Game 7 vs the Yankees in CLE.
 
Good win, took care if avoiding any bad bad series out of the gate. Fat lady is warming up. Too bad this series didn't happen while I was in Vegas, couldn't swing a late night after flying home

Unfortunately true. When a pitcher walks the bases loaded bad things usually happen. Last night it happened in the 1st inning. Hopefully they can shake that one off and get the W today. Bibee vs. Flaherty for the series win.

This is actually a very winnable game right now. C'mon Guardians get it going! It's a million degrees in LA and it looks like only about 10 thousand fans are there-time to take one from the Dodgers.
