Cleveland Guardians

You make good points, BUT I'm leery about trading the second Biggest bat from a team that only has two to begin with (Noel could be #3, still unproven). 🙃 Right now it seems that KWAN is our #3.

If Naylor goes, Cleveland is left with Fry, Noel, Arias, and Manzardo as 1st basemen.

Unless they were to get Vlad Jr. in any deal involving Mr. J. Naylor. The problem I see is that he is a favorite in the clubhouse and with the fans as well as one of their top run producers. I don't think a majority of the players or fans would be happy to see him go but they have to do what is best to put a winner on the field.

I was thinking/posting along the line of "Naylor for Pitcher".

Vlad....good.

That is probably more likely if they do indeed pull the trigger but the last line of your post about who they would have left to play 1B if they did so made me think of Vlad Jr. I have never been overly wild about trading a front line everyday player for a pitcher unless he is a top of the rotation guy and you have an adequate replacement for the front line everyday player but they do need starting pitching to go along with that excellent bullpen.

Pure conjecture - would the Guardians trade Josh Naylor? I certainly hope not, but there have been some signs that this 'may' be in the works (?) #1 You gotta give up something to get something, and that something for us is likely to sting. #2 Management will never say it but Josh's propensity to put on weight with his injury history has to be concerning to them. #3 it's curious that Nails sat out the weekend series with Philadelphia.

I certainly hope it does not happen, but if it does, you read it here first. And stranger things have happened here in Cleveland.
I would absolutely trade Josh in the right deal. They aren’t going to pay him and he’s been fragile.

Trading Josh Naylor this week kills the season's hopes. This team is starved for offense and he is one of the few sources of offense.

If he is traded, it should be in the off season. If he is traded this week, the clubhouse and the fans would revolt. Unless it is the unlikely scenario of Naylor to Toronto for Vlad and Kikuchi, or something ridiculous like that. Seems impossible.

If you trade him, is has to be for a power bat.

Flaherty scratched tonight. Guessing going to yankees. I think we are gonna get a bag of chips at most....again...

Andre Knott just said there is talk that the Guardians have done something and the name he mentioned is Lane Thomas, Washington Nationals OFer.

MLB.com reporting Lane Thomas to Cleveland for 3 prospects. Yet to be "confirmed" by either team.

Right handed Right Fielder.

That’s the only type of deal I’d make with Naylor. Someone like Vlad or Rooker.

Always liked Lane Thomas. That isn’t enough, though.

Just confirmed on air. I think he is an upgrade in either RF or CF. Good outfielder with great speed, has 28 SBs this year. He hit 28 HRs last year with 20 SBs so he would join Jose as 20/20 men but he only has 8 HRs so far this season. He was injured earlier this season and missed several games so hopefully he is recovered from that.

Does the Guardians management/ownership understand how much better it would be to throw Flaherty against the Yankees in a playoff series as opposed to facing him?
All of the SP are dropping off the board. Don't know wtf they are doing unless signing Bauer

My guess is they eventually bring back McKenzie or Allen and claim that with Gavin Williams back they have the rotation they thought they would have in spring…minus Bieber, of course.

Then they need to get bullpen help for that eventual burnout and still another middle bat

I have an odd feeling they trade for Nestor Cortes
Last time I saw him he was beating the Guardians in the decisive Game 5 versus the Yankees in 2022. He pitched on three days rest because the Yankees really wanted to get to the ALCS. The Guardians chose not to pitch Bieber on three days rest. Turns out Bieber got several months rest starting that day.

Chris Antonetti was interviewed on the post game show last night and said that they were still pursuing trades but didn't know if any would come to fruition. He said they knew that starting pitching would be at a premium at the deadline and that's why they signed Mr. Boyd early. It didn't sound to me like he was confident of being able to land a starting pitcher but we shall see. I like the Lane Thomas trade though. He will probably be the starting CF and bat #2 in the lineup.

Hopefully they can sweep the short two-game series today and with it win the season series against the Tigers and pull out a winning month of July after struggling for a good part of the month.

GO GUARDS!

The team can't score any runs so they should trade one of the 2 power bats in the lineup.

The Naylor rumor is one of the dumbest things I've heard in a long time.

Toronto isn't doing that deal.

I never said they were and don't expect them to. That was a response about who would be left to play 1B if the Guardians were to trade Mr. Naylor. I personally don't want to see Naylor traded.
