Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

I accept them.

I was certainly more offended by the radio goof I heard today, going after Garrett's character based on his couple one-of missteps. Garrett calling out "fans" for cheering what was obviously a catastrophic injury in the manner he did is OK by me, and his mistakes in no way disqualify him from doing so, imho. He's very bright and seems a thoughtful man, a high character individual and a solid citizen by all reports. It's my suspicion that he personally may not even want to be on the same airplane with Watson.

I'll take it, and go as far as to agree with him.
I agree with standing up for a teammate and I also agree the boos were in poor taste, but calling him a model citizen…

He was exposed as a guy who can throw for 350 yards and 3 TDs against a very tough defense? Sure, his 2 picks were not great, but he made a lot of great throws. He always has a little Favre in him, out there gun-slinging and taking chances. I could live with that.

Baltimore defense has gone from giving up approximately 16 ppg last season to over 24 ppg this season. It is not the Baltimore defense of years past but I’d bet the Ravens figure it out, just way too good of a coaching staff/organization not too.

Do you believe/think Baker could have come in and did what Flacco did last season?
Maybe not in Stefanski's offense. I was thinking more of long term rather than a short term "rescue" QB. I appreciate all Flacco did and wish they still had him, but I also think he got hot at the right time and it would not be sustainable over the long term. His recent history before the Browns tells me that.

I can only assume that Garrett misspoke, and was merely trying to characterize Watson's Cleveland tenure. Winston's comments are meaningless to me here. He's kept his nose clean quite a while, but he lived his life as an entitled sweetie for quite a while.

Watson is innocent until proven guilty. The facts that all testimony was solicited by one attorney, and that all of these women simply took settlement money and walked away in lieu of seeing the case through, that matters quite a bit to me.

I see "justice in limbo" here, myself, but I can't presume Watson's relative innocence any more than I can his guilt, as you say.

But, Why make him the highest paid QB? It will go down as one of the worst deals ever. Move Garrett for the future. Great player but this team isn't the future. Deal Chubb also. Tear it down and start new. Two great players who are at their peak value.

Let's see a complete shake-up with the staff, first. The new leadership can tear it all down if they feel the need.

Tearing it down with the same idiots reassembling a team is Uncle Albert's definition of insanity.

Lamar looked on track for his third MVP, yet some still question whether he’s a franchise QB because he’s yet to get the Ravens to a Super Bowl. Josh Allen hasn’t got it done either, but nobody questions his standing as an elite QB. Let’s face it, the old Browns have a great one in Lamar.
He's become the passer that 30 other teams thought he'd never be. True story.

I do, more or less. Baker throws different picks, albeit Flacco's more often seem like a punt, but the net effect would have been much the same had we somehow added Baker (in a Bobby Valentine mustache to fool his remaining Browns haters) in lieu of Flacco last season.

Only trade that can rival the Watson trade in futility is the Minnesota trade w/ Dallas for Hershel Walker that involved 18 players and draft picks. At least Walker was not facing a league suspension as was Watson.

The Browns doubled down on the horrible decision of trading for Watson by giving him a 5 year, $232 mil guaranteed contract.

Trading Garrett, there would be interest for him and the Browns could probably get a 2025 late 1st rd pick for him (Detroit, Buffalo, Houston). As for Chubb, he is no where near his prime and is just coming off his 2nd major knee surgery. I believe he is a free agent at the end of 2024 season so who would give anything more than a 6th or 7th rd pick for a 30 year old rb? No one is trading for Chubb unless the Browns do him a solid and trade him and a 7th rd pick for a 6th rd pick type of trade. And who knows, maybe Chubb wants to stay in Cleveland.

Stefanski is now turning over the play calling to OC Ken Dorsey. Word is Stefanski is trying to free up some time for himself as he is now interviewing local Real Estate agents.

So now the fingers can point away from him.

Maybe now he can focus on avoiding pre-snap penalties and having people line up correctly.

This organization does everything asss backwards. Dorsey was brought in for Watson, now that Watson is out Stefanski turns over playcalling.

Yep - I came here to post that. They plainly stated that Dorsey was here to make the offense under Watson more like the Josh Allen offense he ran in Buffalo. Perfect timing for the switch. What a clown show.

Sure he can...just look at how much Buffalo improved last year after Dorsey was fired.

In 2000 the Browns were set up perfect.....You had a monster run game with Chubb and Hunt, and a more than adequate quarterback in Mayfield. Pair that with a Defense that could bully teams, and cornerbacks that could lockdown elite receivers. As a Bengals fan, I thought this ain't good. These guys have the perfect AFC North roster. Then it all got screwed up.....

I believe the Browns were always limited with Baker at QB. One, in 2021 he was not the qb he is today. Two, even at Baker’s current production maybe he could pull off one victory against a Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jackson, Stroud but one will have to go through at least two of these qb’s to get to the Super Bowl. Just don’t see Baker beating any of these guys in the 2nd week of the playoffs.

AFC is tough, these guys are all young and we haven’t discussed Herbert & Lawrence and Maye looks pretty good through only 2 games.

You meant 2020 right? As a Steeler fan I agree. They screwed the pooch.

Solid theory, except:
- The Browns, like many teams, use their defense against opposing QBs
- In 2020 the Browns had the Chiefs beat in the 2nd round of the playoffs if not for one very controversial play (No spearing call on Higgins at the goal line causing the fumble/not a fumble through the end zone for a touchback). 22-17 loss would have been different.
