Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

Jameis Winston will look much like Joe Flacco did … and while the offense will still not be great, but much better than any time this year. He is a solid professional QB who will make most of the correct reads and deliver the ball on time … and much like Flacco, throw a few INTs
The version of Winston we will see is a massive downgrade from the version of Flacco we got. Winston is a below average version of Flacco. Expect to see a lot of the Houston playoff games with Winston in there. He's a funny player to watch but he is a gunslingers gunslinger, makes way too many mistakes.

If Winston started the year as the starter we'd be looking at an 8-9 or 9-8 finish on a rollercoaster of a season. The problem is now he's going to win a few games and ruin the draft pick. QB purgatory continues for us. Just roll DTR out there and hope he doesn't get hurt. The worst thing that can happen is we don't win again (which is actually fine) or he turns out to be a serviceable QB (I doubt it).

If somebody gave me free seats, the best in the house, free food and drink, and transported me to and from the game, I wouldn’t go.

And I has season tickets for many years.
You sound like my old man :ROFLMAO:.

I get it though. I like going to events in general and am still making up for lost games and shows from COVID. I don't have kids so that's a big difference maker. If I had kids I wouldn't waste a dollar or a minute of my time in that place on a Sunday. I like it because it's bad and something to ultimately laugh about.

I was there today. I've gotten to a point where I view the money for season tickets as pure entertainment. I don't like that the money lines Jimmy's pockets but you really never know what's next with this franchise, it's no different than a car wreck, you have to watch. I don't really have any emotional investment into them anymore, I know better. But what a spectacle: the horrible football, the people watching at the game, it's fantastic.

Full on tank is on. I didn't cheer the injury to Watson and feel for him because that's an awful injury, but that's years of pent up anger from fans being let out. The cheering wasn't so much directed at him but instead to the ownership of the team. I hope Jimmy feels awful as he should. He ran this franchise into the ground.

I cannot wait to see the new stadium debacle happen. My bet is this team will have a new owner long before a shovel is in the ground for a new stadium.

I’m unsure why you believe Haslim would sell. I would say it’s a far higher % that the browns would move before Haslim would sell.

Same reason why I don't get why a lot of owners across all sports don't take the money and run. He's 70. The earliest his theme park stadium complex will be done is 2028. He'll be 74. I know it's grim but the guy may not even be alive to see his "dream". He bought the team for a billion dollars and could probably sell them for at least two, probably more.

If I was 70 and a billionaire the last thing I would want to deal with is the Cleveland Browns. I know he's trying to build a legacy with the Haslam Sports Group but is it really worth it? I know I'd rather be on the beach somewhere. Let a younger guy buy the team and let the pros fix it. Haslam clearly is meddling in just about everything, I just don't get why. To win a Super Bowl? Has he realized he isn't going to do it if he's involved? He's not a football guy. Take the money and run.

It’s ego. A NFL franchise is a billionaires ‘64 sky blue Mustang convertible’ that he keeps in the garage to show off to his buddies. One big difference is a NFL franchise will bring in $50 mil in profit each year while increasing in value each year.

Yep, and that azzwipe criminal keeps putting years old crappy gas in it, never changes the oil and washes it with bleach and a scotch brite pad.

Berry will ruin the draft pick no matter where it is.

I'm not concerned with Jimmy dying before seeing his dream. I'm concerned with Browns fans dying year after year who just wanted to see their Browns win a SB...heck play in a SB....heck be a consistently competitive playoff team. I'm hopefully not ready to meet the Reaper anytime soon but I'm in my 40s, time is marching on for me as well and if I live another 40 I'm not sure I'll see any of that come to fruition.

These goofs said 1-31 was necessary pain to build a contender. So people's time was wasted with the promise it would eventually pay off. Now here we are talking about blowing it up and rebuilding again and what do we have to show for it? 2 playoff appearances and 1 win? Not much pay off.

I do respect fans such as you who are loyal and stay with the team regardless. Nothing is worse than a fair weather or band wagon fan.

Your fall Sundays have been a mess most of your adult life. As a kid (you state you are in your 40’s), you maybe remember The Drive and The Fumble but still, those were a good 4 or 5 year run. The 1990’s was the beginning of the end & ultimate Art Model move to Baltimore. The man The Return but the Browns burn through Tim Couch (could have been a great QB) and 20+ other starting qb’s. Your two best memories are the Browns playoff victory over Pittsburgh and last seasons Joe Flacco run.

Browns fans have this season and the next two that could rival the 1-31 stretch.

Nothing like a healthy Chubb running behind them to get the line together. Nothing like Chubb to sell play action. I can’t recall the best RB Jameis played with at TB, but it wasn’t Chubb. There’s reason to be hopeful.

The crazy thing is having Jameis #3. What’s the story there ? That makes absolutely no sense.

Unless he pays for it all on his own he's not getting the money. Cleveland proper is out of the picture now, Cuyahoga County isn't giving him the money via vote and the state of Ohio has already signaled they won't do it because Cincinnati will rightfully ask for their fair share as well.

The nightmare scenario is that Jimmy gets in bed with GOP lawmakers in Columbus and the stadium is built with corruption money. Which sadly isn't out of the realm of possibility with Haslam's history.

At this point there are so many eyes on this (mine included) that want him gone. He can sell the team for double what he bought them for a little over a decade ago. Why not just go? Take the money and run. Sell the team to somebody that cares about a winning product and the teams history.

A buddy of mine put it best a few weeks ago, "Haslam is focused on hosting the Super Bowl, not playing in it." He was right on the money. The rest of the AFC North isn't in a stadium debacle now and all seem to be headed to the playoffs while we sit in the cellar again. I get that hindsight is 20/20 but did anybody really believe that Deshaun Watson was going to solve all the Browns problems?
I’m glad the lakefront is going to be freed up for full-time use. It’s a shame that they didn’t stay in the city, but I like the dome, and they certainly have a right to want that. If not for Art Modell refusing to lose 10,000 seats, we would’ve had, a 72,000 seat dome on the central market site where Jacob’s field is now.

I think that they should do a joint economic development district (JEDD) for the project between Brookpark and Cleveland. Cleveland Fire is already headquartered at the airport. The transit cops will be right up to the turnstiles at the rapid station on the other side of Brookpark Road from the north end of Engle. They could make good use of the Cleveland cops for some supplemental help. Share some tax dollars from players checks.

100%. I've been a Browns fan since the late 1960s. I'm almost 64. Tick Tock Browns, lets get your s___t together.

Even keeping in mind that Sauce Gardner got knocked out of the game, it looks like the RusSteelers are going to be a real problem
I did not watch the entire game … but I part I watched … I was not impressed by Russ … his arm was weak, he was completing passes … but many of them were floated … not sure that is going to work all year … I think they can beat the bad teams playing that way … but not the good teams.

Well, a large part of why Fields wasn't out there was probably because nothing he threw was floated, and he couldn't complete a red zone pass. Fields' passes only seem vary in the horizontal plane, NSEW, with nothing OVER coverage. We'll see. The cold winds are coming. It wasn't very long ago that no one was throwing a deep ball better. If Najee keeps running like yesterday, he may not have to zip many balls to slants, and if he can still dip out for the sidelines when his protection and the coverage both hold up, he'll be trouble. You won't fool him very often pre-snap, like Fields.

I think people are misinterpreting the booing. They weren't booing him getting hurt, they were booing him falling down and losing the ball, seemingly another blown play by Watson. Once it became apparent he was injured it was over. Yeah some small minority cheered at that point but it was mostly stunned silence. He had actually been playing fairly well to that point.

I keep seeing people talk about it being career ending. I just watched Rodgers playing last night after suffering the same injury. For better or worse Watson will be your Browns QB at some point next season, the cap hit is just too large to justify him not playing.

As shameful as letting an injured Mayfield and his rotational delivery, strapped up in a brace, call his own shot like a try-hard and fail his way out of town ? With Keenum on the bench, whom you had just saved a Vikings season with as their OC ? lol Tough call for me.
this "rotational delivery" nonsense was just a excuse for Mayfield's poor play.
