Cavs 2023-24

17 points in the 4th to seal the game, what a clutch quarter by Mitchell, did not realize it was that many while watching.

That’s why the trade was made for him. You don’t win a championship without one of those dudes who can bail you out when the ship starts sinking. If the Cavs can win this championship Donovan rises in the NBA star hierarchy.

He's definitely one of those players who seems to work to get everyone involved as long as he can, but you just see a look in his eyes when he knows it's time for him to take over a game and just throw the team on his back.

The other interesting thing is what happens if the Cavs win the title with this relatively young team that could contend for a while? No matter how good the Cavs have been, even with LeBron, they have never overtaken the Indians/Guardians or the Browns in the Cleveland fans pecking order, could a championship without LeBron change the order? Doubtful, but CLE is a surprisingly strong NBA market. Attendance has been strong, even when the team sugged and the NBA has rewarded CLE with all-star games for the celebration of the 50 and 75 all-time NBA greats.

CLE fans are ready to embrace him as an all-time revered favorite son. He chose to stay in CLE, which very few do, and if he delivers a championship he becomes a sports god here forever.

So, just to clarify, Colin Sexton isn't that guy?

Will this lead to a Heat victory in Game 3?

"Pick on Tyler Herro," Garland identified as a key to such an endeavor. "Take care of the ball, don't play in tight spaces and pick on their weak defenders. Go at them."

I mean, it's the same strategy when you play the Cavs...just replace the name Herro with Garland...it's not like he said something that Herro doesn't already know.

Maybe, but it's the embarrassment of being called out by name to the national media.

Good. The Cavs aren’t media darlings because they aren’t flashy or compelling in any significant way, but this could at least spark a rivalry feud with the Heat going forward. Something a little spicy for the fans and for the league to exploit.

Cavs forward Evan Mobley entered the season with three goals.

He has accomplished the first two.

The second came Thursday night, as the 23-year-old franchise pillar was named Defensive Player of the Year for the first time in his career. He is the first Cavalier ever to win the award — and the fifth youngest in league history to earn the prestigious honor. Mobley, who finished third in the voting in 2023, edged out Golden State’s Draymond Green and Hawks thief Dyson Daniels — the two other finalists.
