I usually attend most McKinley football games... the Jackson game I missed... sorry I could not see it in person.
I am concerned now because it appears that there was more than ONE incident on the field at the game.... There was ONE pre-game incident... AND, At Half Time, a second problem occurred as the Band was finishing their program, and the football team at the same time came back onto the field to warm up.
It seems that the two groups then again came too close to each other... And, there was a second "reaction"... The Band cut short their song, and came off the field earlier than they had wanted.
Now, there are more hurt feelings because of TWO incidents. As a result, the Band usually plays spirited songs DURING the game - which adds to the excitement and atmosphere on the field - NOT Now. I understand that the Band barely played and did not join in the cheering while they were in the stands. Feelings of disrespect to the Band are HIGH!
It will be interesting what happens on Monday when everybody shows up for school. There are calls for protests, apologies, punishment, resignations, etc. Emotions are running deep.
In my opinion, based on the accounts of have read and also from the films I have viewed, our football head coach has a lot of explaining to do.
I love our football PUPS, and have the greatest respect for our Band. TOGETHER they make a great experience for the fans. I hope a peaceful resolution can be achieved.
Good luck to all, sam
