Arthur Treacher’s closes down in Garfield Heights, leaving only 1 left in Ohio

Ohio is reportedly down to one last Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips restaurant with the Garfield Heights location closing its doors last Saturday.

Owner Ben Vittoria said the decision to shutter the seafood house was not an easy one, but that, like many other restaurants in the area, he recently had trouble finding enough employees.

It is rare nowadays to see a restaurant that does NOT have a hiring sign in the window.

Many places are cutting hours as well.

A staple of Catholic life because they had a great fish fry, during Fridays in lent there was usually a line out the door. One of their claims is they use fresh fish and batter it at the restaurant, it was great but labor intensive and cost more than Long John Silver. Superior product but not sure that is what folks look for in a fast food restaurant.

There's still one in Cuyahoga Falls on State Road. Their chicken is also very good. The manager there, Gina, is top notch.

This brand is coming back. They were bought by the same company that owns Nathan's Hot Dogs and they plan to begin franchising again.

Working with Merv is what I knew him for growing up. Didnt learn about his earlier career til much later.
