What? Your not into conspiracy talk 24/7 365?

I don't think I have ever listened to Dan Carroll for more than an hour when he did not bring up the stolen election of 2020.

My horse died a long time ago on that one.

I actually do think he could be fairly good at the job if he could get a broader subject set to comment on.
The fact that he's on semi-regularly and he seems to not be able to come up with more than political rambling... The thing about McConnell is when he has time to interact with callers, he prepares and has good research. Mike is also very intelligent and READS and UNDERSTANDS things.

I don't mind occassional whining, but the whole show is usually "did you see what <insert Democrats name> did" - and then whines about it for 2 hours. "Can you believe they would do that" - for the last 3 years.

It's fine in small amounts, but move on to some entertaining topics.
One thing I've noted about Mike Allen and Joe Deters is they both are prone to whiney overstating. I figure this must either be a requirement for being a prosecutor or is the effect of being one.

They both have the "this is the worst case scenerio ever" context to their conversation.

Don't know Allen much, but Deters and guys like him see the worst of the worst in humans and it amazes me that they can do the jobs they do. I don't know that I could handle that much negativity in my job.

And that reminds me, as we know there has been all this shooting in Cincy lately, and guess what, downtown businesses are complaining because business is down. Guys this is so simple. When you allow criminals to run the streets and destroy property and be less than human, people are not going to frequent those areas. Businesses will go away and people will complain there are no stores. The cycle of poverty continues. It's sad.

I do know this, if McConnell isn't on the morning shift, I don't listen. He's been off for two weeks, Dan Carroll has been in for him this week and he does nothing for me.
I eagerly await his return on Monday.

My guy, Mike McConnell.

So over the last week, it hit the news that a female police officer in Cincinnati was fired for using the "N" word in her police car - by herself - it was caught on her body cam - an angry rage. This was a 14 year police woman with no record of poor performance.

Obviously in today's cancel culture and PC environment - there is little to no push back from the masses. We just sit back and let the libs do their thing because that's what's going on now. My guess is the police union won't even push back because it's race issues.

So Mike is taking it on this morning. And he's 100% correct. This is an individual, alone, not projecting at the persons ( this happened because she was flipped off by a high school student in a traffic jam). So we are now at a point where we are holding SOME people to a higher standard than the masses. If you've ever been in a group of young people you know how they talk and the words they use. The N word is very common in their language to each other.

Now, is a reprimand warranted, absolutely. But to fire a person for something like this? And in a position where where it's difficult to find A. cops in general, and B. female cops?? Frankly, I'm surprised liberal women are not pushing back some.

We are spiraling down folks.

By any reasonable accounting of her past actions, this is at least the officer's third strike. https://www.fox19.com/2022/08/29/ci...er-n-word-during-incident-outside-cps-school/

The officer received an official reprimand in February 2019 for allegedly using her cellphone at the Hollywood Casino to show her family bodycam footage from a homicide scene.

She received a second official reprimand in December 2020 following an incident in which she was allegedly involved in a violent argument with her sister and brother-in-law over a card game. Valentino allegedly punched both of them before using an umbrella to batter her brother-in-law’s car.

This same officer was also the cause of a civil lawsuit that cost the city $151,000 in 2019. She's far from an officer with "no record of poor performance."

If the officer decides to sue the city for wrongful termination her lawyer would probably bring up the fact that in the past other officers have received less discipline for a similar misdeed. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-new...y-received-after-using-racial-slur-on-the-job

You know that was going to be one of my other comments, I wondered if there was some other things out there and this was just a convenient way to get rid of her. Bill Cunningham was talking about it on his show. It appears the police union will back her if she decides to appeal. May as well, what does she have to lose?

They're at it again. Mike read a story today that in a part of California, it's being proposed that fast food restaurants of 100 stores or more pay their workers a minimum of $22 an hour!! How can anyone with common sense think this is a good idea?

It basically allows employees to have a union type thing without it officially being called a union. That $22 number is the max the new board can agree to.

Places are paying $18 here. $22 in California isn’t that big of a reach considering living expenses out there.

Even union employees have more of a sense of commitment. We have people daily walking away from good paying jobs "just because". I've said ti before, we need a little recession to reset the job market. We need the rank and file to appreciate the jobs they have. There was a time not too many years ago when people feared losing their jobs because may not be another one to go to right away.
You do realize the fast food industry is automating so they don't have to hire as many people? When you make it so expensive labor wise, it forces businesses to change. McDonald's will figure it out, with or without us.

Perhaps there would be more commitment if they were paid a living wage. Many leave to take better paying jobs elsewhere. And your claim of McDonald’s and others being anywhere close to automating is completely foolish. They have stands that take orders. That’s it. Can’t even take drive through orders.

Right now they’re having trouble getting employees and a lot of it’s probably because of wages. Don’t blame people for taking other opportunities. The claims that all these liberals are getting paid to sit at home is false as well.

brian, I have no idea how old you are, but I've never, ever been under the impression that your starting job at McDonald's is job you can support a family on. These jobs are/ were designed as additional income, second jobs, high school, college kids jobs, retiree supplemental income jobs. You will continue to see more and more automation. McDonald's and the like will continue to make their stores less and less human needy. Drive thrus? It's one by one, or with the double drive thru two by two. Ordering on the app or at the kiosk in the store is revolutionizing the industry. Go into a McDonald's and look around. They are operating with about 25-30% less labor than 10 years ago.

So you’re proving my point the these places have lived off short term employees. But now they want long term committed employees and in order to do that they’re going to have to incentivize people to work there. You’re saying people should just work there no matter what.

No, they‘ll easily find something with better pay and benefits elsewhere.

I'm not sure two people can be more apart than we are? 🤣

People need jobs to pay their bills -that's about as elementary as it gets. Some jobs require more skills than others and the MARKET sets the worth of that job. When you have a third party (government) dictate to business owners what they are required to pay employees for jobs, you upset that apple cart.

Your thought that they can easily find something else with more pay is true, but generally they are more difficult jobs that require a more physical type job, longer hours, working in difficult conditions.

So the Brennaman / Jones show on daily yesterday was something else, and I'm sure some were offended by it. So Marty starts the show off with the news of weeks ago that Aroldis Chapman had to miss some time due to an infection he got in his leg due to a tatoo he just got. Marty ripped him for doing something like that and missing time when his team needs him.
Of course Tracey goes into this rant on how stupid tatoos are and people should not get them. He said there should be a weight limit for women who get tatoos...it's just funny stuff. And alot because he's correct. 🤣🤣🤣

On normal schedules, they come on about 7:55A during McConnell's show, and then about 5:50 for Eddie and Rocky. I would think those two could do a weekly show during the baseball season for a couple hours that would be received well.

People are able to pay their bills because there have been more jobs created at a level higher than fast food. The argument these people are living off the government is false.

classic line by the Tracer..... i remember hearing that......still funny as H

Since there seems to be some on here who follow WLW, what's the story on the news woman Sara Elyse? A few years ago, she'd be on rarely doing a few news reads. She's on more now and even has some scheduled spots with Sloanie and does a TON of social media posts with the Reds/ Bengals and everything Cincinnati. And I'm not knocking radio announcers but she doesn't look the part of the typical radio news person.

Just an update on my job search. I had applied to every job open in my 15 mile radius regardless of pay or type of work. Last week McDonalds sent me a text asking if I was still looking for work? I told them i was not currently but thanked them for their interest. So, i still am under the strong impression work is not as easy to find as many would pretend it to be.

So are you looking for work or not? Apparently not since McD's inquired.

I am. But after not being able to find anything I started doing some excavation work putting in drives, septic systems etc, I have to finish those things up before I can entertain other offers now. I just was not aware how exceptionally difficult it is to get even an interview from fast food. That McDonalds application was a year and a half back . During the winter is when I would have to make a change.

I would think that line of work with septic systems/ excavation work, you'll always have a job.

Its like every other job, as things slow it gets very competitive. I really enjoy it. Fun to see an empty yard turn into a leach field.

So if there is any Tracy Jones fans out there, he's a regular on Thom Brennaman's new podcast Off The Bench. Much longer segments than Brennaman & Jones on baseball. It's pretty amusing and Tracy is in rare form.
