35-0 in Softball ?

I think Kenton Ridge would go for 100 if they could.
I was at game this week the final was 18-1 after 4 innings
Up 16-1 after 1 all 3 outs leaving base early
Next 2 innings 2 runs 6 outs leaving base early.

Upon looking at gamechanger. The outs they made by leaving early were :
2nd inning 3rd out
3rd inning 2nd and 3rd out
5th inning 2nd out

Im not sure how good Kenton Ridge is or how bad Urbana is- but in softball or bsseball when you have a team with absolutely no clue these scores can happen. In 18 my daughters team had ZERO clue. I believe it was a double header on a Saturday and the combined score was something like 75-1. The winning team didnt leave the base early to create outs, but they emptied the bench. Didnt help that it was Senior day for the winning team and they enjoyed teeing off for the last time
That year multiple teams left the base early for puts. One team just pulled their girls after they reached 5 runs in an inning. We played that team twice. Gave up 35 runs total and achieved 1 actual out on defense

Don't know much about the current coach but their old coach was known for running scores up in Basketball so doing the same in softball wouldn't surprise me.

There is no reason to beat a team by 15-20 unless the coach is trying to feed his/her ego. Stuff like this is why the sport is dying in some schools.

These games are very tough to watch but I would say you have to take into account the reserves that are getting chances to play. Those parents wait for these games for their daughters to get into the game. Around 15 runs is where the cutoff is for a blowout getting out of control.

I get your point about the reserves, however the coach probably knows how the game is going to go before it's played - maybe use that game to start the reserves

32-1 this time and it was another league game. You would think they know how good the team is they are playing. It would be a good time to start your JV players and still run rule them. But I guess the All State players wouldn't get the stats.

A side note, I am seeing multiple teams cancel their season after games like that because the kids quit... way to help damage the sport just to feed an ego(s). Coaches have to do better.

OHSAA owns some of this responsibility. Run rules are straight 10 after 5. Some of these games are over after the first inning. Having teams take outs for 2-3 innings is not good for anyone. They should really implement 15 after 3.

I don't know what the right answer is in these games. The varsity girls deserve an opportunity to play but the score gets out of hand and so many awards are based on innings played. Maybe you bat around twice then put all your backup/JV in and give a girl who never pitches the ball?

I could be wrong but pretty sure they only carry 11 girls on the varsity and 10 on the JV.
