One of the dudes had hem at #2, the other at #6. You're probably right and they should be in the 6-10 range. But it's early and last year's results always weigh heavily in the new year until there are more results to go by.Having Fenwick ranked 2nd with all of the pieces they lost seemed a little uninformed to me lol
Seeing the team just once, but looking at their record now (and what’s to come), probably be Moe’s worst year ever.Elder took down X in 4 last night. They seem to have figured out their lineup and are really cookin’ right now.
In some other big matchups, McNick swept Moeller and New Albany today. Personally, I think McNick is a top 5 team in the state regardless of division.
Watterson also swept LaSalle and beat SVSM in 5
This might be just a bit of an over reaction.. They have 3 losses, all being state contenders.. Is this a down year for Moeller? Sure, it could end up being a down year, but the schedule Moeller has had thus far is a gauntlet. Give them a few more matches to figure their lineup out, and Im sure they will be fine.Seeing the team just once, but looking at their record now (and what’s to come), probably be Moe’s worst year ever.
Elder looked good last night.
As we are a few weeks into the season now, here are my updated predictions with predicted league records:Just for fun, here are my predictions for a couple of leagues around Cinci:

CHL

3. Indian Hill
4. Finneytown
I am not sure when the seeding was taken, but it appears that this doesnt even match MaxPreps eitherThis reminds me of when Liberty was clearly a top 2 team in the state and was seeded 6th. In the end, it shouldn't matter, but it doesn't seem like MaxPreps seeding is the best way to go for something like this.
Could be mistaken, but didn’t this happen in 2021? Not sure if it was ruled 3 way tie or no champion. Is it possible for the GCL South to be a 3-way tie? Because the top 3 teams seem to be taking turns getting hot. Moeller beats Elder pretty convincingly last night and upsets TW in the 1st round of the Centerville Elite this morning
McNick is top 5 regardless of division. They’ve played X and lost to them in 3, but scores were relatively close. They have a few interesting matchups left in Fenwick, Walnut Hills and Elder, but, unless they get too comfortable and sure of themselves, they should be able to sleepwalk to another state championship gameFrom what I'm seeing on MaxPreps, Centerville Elite went:
1. X
2. Elder
3. Moeller
4. Ignatius
5. Berlin
6. T Worthington
7. Darby
8. Centerville
Aside from 7/8 I don't think any of these went the way I was expecting. Looks like the only certainty across both D1 and D2 this year is McNick #1 in D2.
I noticed most teams just couldn't figure out what to do with McNick's serves. I watched DeSales give up 4-5 consecutive aces one time. SVSM shanked a lot as well. They had multiple aces per game, and even when it wasn't an ace it was commonly a wild pass.I’ll admit I don’t know the strength of any of these teams McNick beat this weekend. Appears they weren’t really pushed all that much.
SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 2025
McNicholas d. DeSales 25-12, 25-14, 25-10 McNicholas d. St. Vincent-St. Mary 25-10, 25-12, 25-16
McNicholas d. Mt. Vernon 25-11, 25-17, 25-17[/td]
Some interesting results out of the ECC lately; Anderson pulls off the 5 set upset over Lebanon and Milford takes down Walnut in 4! Two of those sets in the Milford win were not particularly close either: 25-16, 25-14. Milford now sits atop the league at 6-0 and 11-1 overallAs we are a few weeks into the season now, here are my updated predictions with predicted league records:
GCL South: - I could see X and Elder splitting for a tie right now, was shocked at Elder's back to back GCL wins over X and Moe in only 7 total sets; will Moe figure it out? Or will this be a bit of a down year for them? LaSalle seems to have fight in them and Wiesman is a hell of a libero, but not a lot of firepower this year
1. St. X (5-1)
2. Elder (5-1)
3. Moeller (2-4)
4. LaSalle (0-6)
GCL Coed - McNick's to lose, just as D2 state is, but Alter has been a surprise while CJ has disappointed a bit; Fenwick's gotten off to a rough start, but they've played a gauntlet of a schedule
1. McNick (10-0)
2. Fenwick (7-3)
3. Alter (7-3)
4. Badin (5-5)
5. CJ (4-6)
6. Carroll (1-9)
GMC - East has swept some solid opponents thus far and it's only 2 losses were Elder and Moeller in which they were also swept, but scores weren't blowouts either; who in the GMC can stop Simer? Oak Hills has picked up some solid wins over GCL schools Badin and CJ, but are 0-2 in league play
1. Lakota East (8-0)
2. Sycamore (7-1)
3. Mason (6-2)
4. Oak Hills (5-3)
5. Fairfield (4-4)
6. Princeton (3-5)
7. Middletown (2-6)
8. Lakota West (1-7)
9. Hamilton (0-8)
ECC - Walnut's to lose, but Milford has a couple solid pieces in their OHs that could keep them competitive with them; a bit surprised at Loveland's start; the bottom 3 are all new programs, but Kings and Turpin haven't really been all that competitive, Anderson has been a bit more so; I'm excited to see how this league progresses in the coming years with all of them being mid-sized to bigger schools, could be a GMC-light type of conference
1. Walnut Hills (15-0) - they play Lebanon 3 times?
2. Milford (11-3)
3. Loveland (10-4)
4. Lebanon (9-6)
5. West Clermont (5-9)
6. Anderson (5-9)
7. Kings (2-12)
8. Turpin (0-14)
GWOC - nothing changes here; Fairmont had a nice upset win in 5 over Beavercreek last night; Centerville has some really competitive losses in 5 to Lakota East and Walnut Hills, should serve them well moving forward
1. Centerville (7-1)
2. Beavercreek (6-2)
3. Fairmont (5-3)
4. Wayne (2-6)
5. Northmont (0-8)
CHL - nothing changes here; congrats to all in starting league play, Wyoming with a win in a close 4 over Indian Hill and Taylor with a no resistance sweep over Finneytown
1. Taylor (6-0)
2. Wyoming (3-3)
3. Indian Hill (3-3)
4. Finneytown (0-6)
Milford was up 17-9 at one point during the 3rd Set and somehow let WH crawl back in to win. Overall, Milford did a nice job of setting up their OH who has a incredible kill ratio this season and he's only a sophomore. Some interesting results out of the ECC lately; Anderson pulls off the 5 set upset over Lebanon and Milford takes down Walnut in 4! Not to take away anything from Milford, but I heard Walnut was without last year's ECC POY, Corby, who was sick. Would think that would help them next time they play assuming he's healthy. That match could likely determine the conference champion.Milford was up 17-9 at one point during the 3rd Set and somehow let WH crawl back in to win. Up until Tuesday night, Milford hadn't won a set against WH since 2018 and hadn't won a match against them since 2017.
Milford is stacked this year. Although, lack of a challenging schedule won't allow anyone to really understand how good they are until tournament.
The JV also beat WH 2-1. I'll be following this site for the next 4 years as I have a freshman son playing for Milford.
Heard that too, however, the sets may have been closer with that player, but I think Milford still wins. Then another couple players got sick and missed the St. X match yesterday.
I'm not sure if I'd say they're stacked, but they certainly do have talent at both OHs (especially Fielman) and libero. Setter is solid as well. Ultimately, they're way too outside heavy and Fielman is doing a ton of heavy lifting; if they're able, they need to find third and/or fourth options on offense to help keep the defense a bit more honestMilford was up 17-9 at one point during the 3rd Set and somehow let WH crawl back in to win. Watched them played West Clermont and by no means is that good competition but one guy went on a 22 point serving run jump topping pretty impressive to not miss that aggressive of a serve for 22 straight pointsI'm not sure if I'd say they're stacked, but they certainly do have talent at both OHs (especially Fielman) and libero.
