2025 HS Season

Not really a sleeper pick as they were good last year, but I think Thomas Worthington is really strong this year. if I'm not wrong they didn't lose any players that played last year right?

Elder and St X have rosters up. Moeller and LaSalle do not. Anyone else have info?

Projected starting lineup opinions?
Said this over in the Elder forum, but feels like the lineup could be something like:
OH - Tierney
OH - Brandt
MH - Sponaugle
MH - James
Opp - Lutz
S - Kelly
L - Brubaker/Wright
DS for Opp - Wright/Timmerman
Unless they decide on a 6-2 with Kelly and Albers and have Lutz and Tucker as the Opps

For X, I'd guess a 6-2 to start; could see them switching to a 5-1 with just Evans, but their setting situation is obviously taking a big hit from last year:
OH1 - Taggart
OH2 - Soloria
MH1 - Schulte
MH2 - Kane (6'9"!!!!!)
Opp1 - Romeo
Opp2 - Romeo/Adkins/Kreuzer
S1 - Evans
S2 - Fahey
L - Sorce/Stewart
Might not be a terrible idea to try Taggart at Opp in a 5-1 for his length on blocks and giving him quicks out of the back row over there and having Soloria and Sorce as 6 rotation OHs. Sorce is small, but he can get up very well.

I think the GCL as a whole is a lot more competitive this year with Elder, X or Moe all able to win it. Hell, could see a 3-way tie if they all split with each other and go 2-0 against LaSalle. Moe and X lost a lot while Elder didn't lose as much, but will have the same questions as last year. LaSalle lost A TON and right when they move back down to D2: 92% of their kills, 57% of their aces, 84% of their blocks, 50% of their digs and 92% of their assists.

Walnut Hills returns a lot of their team from a decent squad last year. I think all of these kids play club. They may have a couple other guys off the bench who could help a bit.

In the first year the ECC is officially sanctioning the sport, they will look to continue to be the best team in the conference. I think they could be the 4 seed in the south region behind the 3CL in D1.

OH - Emmett Corby
OH - Jacob Gillotti
MH - Jackson Helton
MH - Sam Wilkins
Opp - Peter Appino
S - Ben Smith
L - Luke Greiner
DS - Daniel Garcia

20 on the Varsity roster seems insane to me
Sheesh. That's really tough for a HS team to manage. If they had some JV swing players that counted on both I could maybe understand, but no, 20 full varsity players.

I hope they (and parents) understand playing time will be hard to come by.

Even in practice to a degree! That's a lot of standing around when you're scrimmaging, running wash drills, etc.

Just for fun, here are my predictions for a couple of leagues around Cinci:

2. Fenwick
3. Badin
4. Chaminade
5. Alter
6. Carroll

GMC
1. Sycamore
2. Lakota East
3. Mason
4. Fairfield
5. Oak Hills
6. Lakota West
7. Princeton
8. Middletown
9. Hamilton

ECC
1. Walnut Hills
2. Loveland
3. Milford
4. West Clermont
5. Lebanon
6. Kings
7. Anderson
8. Turpin

GWOC
1. Centerville
2. Beavercreek
3. Fairmont
4. Wayne
5. Northmont

CHL
1. Taylor
2. Wyoming
3. Indian Hill
4. Finneytown

Anybody seen any scrimmage results? I think Beavercreek and Pickerington North had some super scrimmages. Curious who looked good in those. I know Fenwick was at Beavercreek and some good Columbus teams were at Pickerington.

Oh, then this isn't abnormal at all. Unless it's being done in a way where if a kid pays and it's non-refundable, so they essentially can't cut them. In my experience, parents usually pay fees after they know their kid has made a team
I’ve heard Moellers fees are at least a few hundred per season to play compared to X where I’ve heard all they have to pay for is the price of their warmup shirt. I could be off a bit in either example but I trust my sources with ties from both schools that I’m in the ballpark.

It also doesn’t appear Moeller cuts anyone anymore. Or at least I’d be surprised if they do considering their roster sizes. While most schools probably have fees for kids to play, What I meant in my original post is that it appears that Moeller no longer cuts those that don’t meet their standard in order to bring in more $ rather than cutting kids that don’t meet the standard.

This is not true.

Thomas Worthington over Elder 26-24? 29-27? 25-16.
Huh?? Just checked and your right. When I checked earlier they were the ones I posted. That's weird. I screenshoted them though when I was looking

Walnut with a nice 3-2 win @ Fenwick who OhioVB Talk has ranked as #2 in D2 in the State.

Looks like Sam Wilkins is actually going to play OPP (where he lead the team in kills). And Appino/Williams will be M2.

Having Fenwick ranked 2nd with all of the pieces they lost seemed a little uninformed to me lol
