2025 Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals bringing in 2 guys on 2 year deals:
- RB Semaj Perine returns on a 2yr, $3.8m deal
- DT TJ Slaton from GB (reunites with new DL coach Montgomery) on a 2 year, $15.5m deal. Run stopper

Both are depth or rotation guys at best.

All of the Bengals cap is tied up in resigning their current top players. Unless the Bengals hit in the draft, they have talked back from the AFC North leaders are don’t look but Cleveland is gaining ground on Cincy with the trade for Kenny Pickett.

Sadly The Bengals a peeing down their leg the window to win a Super Bowl with a HOF caliber QB.

Bengals also signed Oren (heyo!) Burks from Philly. Was a ST superstar and high, high level back up. Started in place of Nkobe Dean during the playoffs and was a very good. 2 years, $5m.

There’s a theme with these out of house FA signings. 2 year deals.

GM Tobin’s Tobin’s pronouncement at the scouting combine that Chase would get the highest non-quarterback deal is going to come back to bite him due to the Garrett deal. Since he said it, Maxx Crosby upped the ante to $35.5M and now Garrett has increased it with a deal that averages $40 million per year.

Will Fries OG just signed with the Vikes for 5 years 88 million, top IOL left Scherf, Zeitler, Jenkins.

Edit: Zeitler to Titans, Bengals could sign Scherff likely for one year 7 million.

And it’s official. Chase gets $161m/4 and $112m guaranteed, Higgins gets $115m/4 with the first two years guaranteed.

I think the Higgins deal is a win for the Bengals with that first 2 years guaranteed clause. That’s big for an injury prone expensive player.

Two big signings, a definite concern to so much of the cap towards one position.

The Bengals have spent a lot of $$$ but the team is no better than what it was at the end of last season. No new signings of any significance, the departure of Oline Karris and probably 3 defensive starters (not necessarily a bad thing) and Hendrickson is upset.

they didn't sign, they were cheap. they sign them and now they overspent. what gives lol?

they did sign a run stuffing dt and bj hill. they also have wilson coming back. if hendrickson was to be traded it would have happened i would think. maybe it happens draft night? hendrickson is still under contract. my guess is that if not traded he isn't going to give up 15 million or whatever he makes.

i will say, i wish they would have signed them last year, then they would have about 10-20 million extra.

Bengals defense was abysmal last year, but they were a banged up unit. Wilson was hurt, Hubbard played injured, Rankins was just a waste. Turner and Hill were injured on the back end, Stone was meh, Bell was well past his better years. Just a healthy roster on defense makes it better, but work still needs to be done.

Injuries and playing hurt is something every team must overcome. The depth of the Bengals roster, players #30 or so on down to #53 is where they will struggle even more in the years moving forward because of the $$$ paid out to the top guys.

Again, all of these signings are with players on last years team that missed in the playoffs. They are now counting more against the cap and a year older.

I don’t disagree but 5+ starters is a lot for any unit. Just trying to add a little context to what could be attributed to the unit being so bad. I’ve seen the Bengals 2nd unit get beat down in the preseason for years now and knew their depth was an issue. They are going to have to hit on some draft picks.

I actually like the young talent they have in the secondary. Adding a guy like Starks in the 1st round is a move I can get behind. Taylor-Britt, Turner, Hill, Battle and Starks sounds real good.

Chase likes Cincy because it's dull:

Receiver Ja'Marr Chase has signed a five-year deal to remain with the Bengals. During Tuesday's press conference to announce the new contracts signed both by Chase and by teammate Tee Higgins, Chase was asked what it was about Cincinnati (other than the money) that made him choose to commit.

And Chase said in the most tactful and positive way positive that, basically, there's nothing to do.

"For me, I like Cincinnati because it gives me the opportunity to come here and focus," Chase said. "You know, I'm not distracted out here. It's not . . . too many things to get me off pace out out here, you know, and it's strictly what I'm focused on. And that's really tunnel vision for me to play football. So, I mean, at the end of the day, the food's not the best. We can work out that, but . . . . I'm from New Orleans, I'm not used to the food yet. But, you know, overall, I mean, honestly, I just think that's the biggest picture for me. Is that, you know, I don't have no distractions here. I can just play football."

For a young person with loads of money, especially someone from New Orleans, yeah it’s say it’s boring. Likely goes the same for Cleveland, Indy, Pitt, etc.
