The first domino in the 2025 coaching carousel came down today. Per Cincinnati dot com, Withrow is looking for a new basketball coach to replace Berdo Allen. Thanks to @JElder for the assist.

CPS schools all depend on how well you can keep your talent at your particular school. There IS a lot of talent that theoretically should be going to Withrow, but you have to work to keep it.

Will Coach Minor take another job or is he done?
 
Per his personal post on X, McNicholas coach Tim Monahan has been informed he will not return to the Rockets.

I've heard he stepped down and I've heard the AD wanted to go a different direction. I don't think people in the community really liked him so I'm sure they heard enough complaining and didn't see enough wins to justify keeping him around. They probably want to play transfer portal AAU ball just like most teams in the city.

Sure maybe BUT also kids didn't want to play for him and kids around the area are different schools NCH will be back especially in the MVC White with a new coach . Minor is a good guy but he lost the kids players and community .
 
Shannon didn't step down, he was let go. As an NCH grad and former player on the 1989 state runner up team, those are facts. Regardless of who liked him or who didn't, he wasn't winning enough over the last handful of years. Is what it is. And as a white male, I'm in full agreement that a black coach is the best option at this point in time. Preferably one who has area connections to keep the NCH kids in NCH. They get pilfered all the time, in every sport.

Surprised that a few Mason parents got their way. Toohey deserved better. Says a lot about their admin.

I heard he stepped down. Maybe he felt the pressure? Mason is a tough job with many dynamics. Their next hire is critical in the direction they want the program to go.

So qualified white coaches need not apply? That might be one of the most racist things I've ever read on Yappi. Should schools like CNE or McNick only look for white coaches as the best option?

No he didn’t deserve better. Alienated a lot of people and had too close of a relationship with the superintendent. A lot of conflict among parents and administration there, and the administration is not in the right.

I have been hearing this so far:

Withrow - Interviews start this week. This job is Mike Pilgrim's if he wants it. I hear he is interviewing.

Mason - CJ Fleming will be the head coach at Mason.

Walnut Hills - They're staying in CPS for this hire. It will be Black at Aiken or Stokes at Western Hills.

If I’m Kerr, Reis, or any other coach in the area I wouldn’t touch this job. Richard’s “retiring” in July with 399 wins and Toohey “stepping away” after being hand picked as his replacement with the job opening so late. Sounds like a bigger problem than X’s and O’s And Jimmy and Joes.
