2025 CHL baseball Preview and Thread

Happy for my dude Cooper Darrow! He is one of my former summer ball kids! His first career HS hit was a Dinger last night in the Win vs Madeira!

Looking clear that FT and DP are at the bottom.

Madeira and IH tied at the top at 4-1
MM and Wyo 4-2
Taylor 2-3
Reading 2-4 (had IH and wyo to open the season)
FT 1-3
DP 0-5

The Stevens kid is a player! he swings it well and plays a solid SS. Ohio Northern got a steal on this commitment! I got a chance to see him and Devlan battle it out yesterday Although he didn't get a hit, he barreled balls all day. It's just going to be very hard to beat out Devlan for POY.

Looks like everyone will be dodging the rain once again this week :(

Madeira and IH sit atop the standings. They will face off once again this week (madeira won the 1st matchup 4-2 earlier this year)

Devlan looks to be the Front Runner Currently for POY

.568 avg (1st)
2 HR (1st)
22 RBI (1st)
3 Wins (2nd)
26 K's (4th)

IH takes control of the league @ 9-1
2 vs MM and 2 vs DP

Madeira @ 8-2
2 vs Reading and 2 vs Wyoming
IH should finish out 13-1 and although Madeira has been really solid, I’m not sure if they beat both Hess and Davis? Wyoming should be able to get 1 win if not 2 as well. This will be interesting.

Madeira has played well!

reading seems to be in some shambles once Hess/Davis leave IMO. could be a rough slide the next few years.

It's going to be really bad when those two leave. I would have thought they would be better offensively. They have two of the top arms in the conference and have a chance to win every time they take the mound. How are they not able to find ways to put up 3-5 runs! That's all they need. Madeira is really playing well, they must have some solid players all the way around.

Madeira JV has a couple nice arms that will help the next few years. Plus Hyland is only a Sophomore. And Harms a JR. so they should be decent.

IH had a HUGE senior class last year and those arms being gone has def played a factor for them. But they still have the best player in the league (Devlan) and if he is on the field (or really if he is on the mound) they are the favorite IMO.

Mariemont will return a few good players as well.

Taylor has a TON of Sophomores , (2 freshmen i think that will be VAR next year as well as soph.) SHOULD be better. but i said that about this past season and we just haven't seen in.

getting down to the nittty gritty here!

IH 10-1 (has DP and MM twice)

Madeira 9-2 ( Has Reading and Wyoming twice)

madeira L vs Taylor looming big as that game very likely could be what lost them a chance atleast sharing a piece of the CHL title.

We will see how some of these Non League game play factors into who pitches in these meaningful League games left on the schedule

IH secures at least a share of the conference title no matter what. If they take 1 game from Mariemont, they win the CHL outright. Plus Madeira has to beat a good Wyoming team twice to even have a chance at sharing a title. I’ve seen crazier things happen!

Congrats to Indian Hill another out right CHL title! that's 3 in a row for IH

I would say Devlan secured his POY last night vs MM another HR and another W on the mound.

his line is below

.576 (1st)
9 2B's (3rd)
7 3b's (1st)
5 HR (1st)
36 RBI (1st)
4 wins (tied for 1st)
37 K's (6th)

this was my prediction prior to the season starting

1- IH
2- Wyoming
3- Reading
4- Madeira
5- Taylor
6- MM
7- FT
8- DP

and this is how we finish

1- IH
2- Wyoming
3 - Madeira
3- Reading
5- MM
6- Taylor
7- FT
8- DP

(I'm confident that Reading can/will beat FT) so Reading will tie madeira

A couple takes.

IH will be the Fave going into next season as well. (they essentially have everyone returning)

Reading losing Hess/Davis (could see a pretty quick decline)

Taylor will be mostly Soph/Junior next season can they get over the hump and get to the top of the middle of the pack?

Nate Hyland from Madeira as a potential POY candidate ?

Wyoming losing Stevens and Steed are going to need to find some dudes and quick.

I would say Reading should be really down next year considering all of the production both offensively and on the mound were from Hess and Davis. Tough to see them as a competitor next year.

I hope Taylor can make the jump, they have some tools, just have to find the depth on the mound.

Nate Hyland had a great season. Potentail POY is a tough one because I don't think he has the offensive numbers to really be in the conversation. Let's face it, he is not Hess and Hess hasn't really been in the real POY conversation and I believe due to offense. Hyland will be one of the top arms next year for sure!

IH has one senior so they should be very interesting next year as far as state title potential if they can clean up defensively, they had a lot of errors this year.

I dont know if Hyland is done growing , he isnt a big kid i think he will grow a little more. who knows what can happen from so/jr year summer!

I would imagine Dev is tapped out.

Given Hyland is is 5-8/5-9 ish (prolly 140ish lbs) (guessing ive only seen him a hand full of times BUT i coached wrestling almost 10 years im good at guessing weight) he will still grow some!

comparing their #'s

DD
.574 (68 AB's) .639 OBP 34 runs 5 HR 36 RBI 16SB
4-1 2.87 ERA 37 K's 23 hits 12 BB

NH
.333 (78 AB's) .432 OBP 15 runs 17 RBI 4SB
4-2 2.01 ERA 41 K's 31 hits 14 BB

Yes Devlan is the Dude. but i think Hyland has some ceiling left to grow! made huge strides from Fr to So year!

Not a great night for the CHL.

Taylor loses to NR 9-0

Reading loses to RB 3-0

Wyoming loses to Massie 7-3

IH won and will play NR next week
