2024 SWBL Offseason/Season

Bellbrook is the last team standing in our proud conference, hoping they can find a way to win Friday night against London.
Cj played them well and also runs the wing t . I do believe Bellbrook is 2 touchdowns better then cj and runs the wing t better but never know

This will be an interesting matchup. Bellbrook pulled out huge wins against McNick & Wapak, both those teams were down their starting QBs and that had to factor in some. Bellbrook's defense is no joke though, especially against the run. Epiphano loss is going to be tough to replace, but guys they had some guys fill in last week with some runs and made it work.

Stout defense and an unbelievable HS kicking game goes a long way in the post season.
Absolutely

Losing epiphano is rough . Having 3 backs in the wing t that are capable makes it so hard to defend . Coach has a full week to fill the spot and make adjustments around it . The defense should keep it close I believe and with that kicker , anything is possible at the end if defense keeps us within striking distance

Senior class is good and reminds me of 21 class but these sophomores have really matured over the course of the year . Jenkins has instilled a winning cculture here and 2nd-3rd round of playoffs ans league titles is the standard .

Proud of how far the program has come these past 7-8 years

Those two sophomore LBs are going to be monsters when they are seniors. Jenkins & Co have been able to churn out some high caliber backers through the years, but these will be the first two since I believe Fryman &/or Ault that have been in the LB rotation/core before their junior seasons.

Losing Epiphano is a monumental blow, but Cameron has been getting some valuable touches last few weeks, and then Pettit on Friday picked up key yardage when his number was called after I don't believe he played a single offensive snap this season before that. Stewart, pound for pound, is as hardnosed a runner as they come...this may be as between the tackles of a running game as we've seen in a while.

With the running game taking a hit, I can see Killen/Jenkins working in some type of WR bubble screens/swing passes to get the ball into Barrios' hands as he's been a somewhat forgotten commodity this season after being one of three key targets last year. Two years ago they ran quite a few jet-sweeps that I don't think they've featured the last season or two...may see that this week too.

I saw rogals big butt Friday night 🤣🤣
Looks like he’s still in the saddle. Great coach . Dude knows linebacker position like the back of his hand .

Well it’s time for some people to get over themselves and bring back a FRANKLIN guy for the job. Three options and shouldn’t look anywhere else there is talent in the system and coming up. Rodney Roberts, Brad Childers, or Frank Russell that’s it, all three proven winners and won’t be looking for the next job or going home, no fault to Coach Muncy I think everyone knew this was a possibility with the hire just happened faster than anticipated.

Didn't Roberts already leave once for a job? I wonder why franklin can never keep a coach?

and why does it have to be a FRANKLIN guy? why not just the best candidate that applies?
Because the last three hires were outside of the district and didn’t work, it’s called insanity doing the same thing over and over and it not working out. For whatever reason at Franklin outside hires haven’t had nearly the same success as coaches who have been from here or who have been a part of the system for a long time. Not just football it’s all sports. Franklin’s best sport currently is wrestling coached by a staff and head coach of nothing but Franklin guys.

Interesting, so why did the franklin guys leave in the first place? I can remember Childers having some pretty good success when they had the Montgomery kid, maybe this stems down to a franklin problem. brand new high school, nice stadium with nice equipment, when you look at it like that it might seem great for a coach to come in and try to establish themself. if the last three out of district hires didn't work, maybe franklin should try to be more welcoming and supportive?

Coaching carousel continues in Franklin.. Muncy leaves for Miamisburg!
My youngest nephew played for Muncy. Said the team morale was best it’s been in a few years. Sounds like the boys like him for the most part. Unfortunately Franklin hasn’t had a winning season since Brad Childers. Did anyone ever hear why he still isn’t the coach? I’m not sure the guy had a losing season and if I remember correctly my oldest nephew said he was COY a couple of times with several playoff appearances and league championships. I think it would be silly not to entertain bringing Childers back.

On the other hand I was very happy with how the Indians looked this year. Morgerson played like a senior as a SOPHOMORE. Will definitely miss Lawson, Hamm and Meehan. I’m excited for the next few years. Koogle will have a year under his belt with kids that will be comfortable coming into the year with the same system. The future is bright. I didn’t agree with Morgerson not getting any recognition for league honors. Hopefully he takes it personally and plays out of his mind for the next 2 years.

Happy to see Bellbrook making a run in the playoffs. Proves the SWBL is legit. Good luck tomorrow gentlemen. Jeff Jenkins is a genius and will be able to keep that job as long as he wishes.

This has been a neat little experiment that we have ran for 4 years. Franklin Football has become a joke at 13-29 over this span. It's time to roll out the carpet for Brad Childers. Let us all say we are sorry for what we have done, or whatever we are waiting on.

Good Luck to Bellbrook! Jenkins and his staff have made this program the measuring stick for the SWBL.

But doesn't the wrestling team have a lot of transfers who came from somewhere else to wrestle? Who is the recommendation then for the new HC from Franklin?

One kid I believe who’s been here since he was a sophomore and parents moved into the district he also played football.

I’d like to see Frank Russell, Brad Childers, or Rodney Roberts. All three guys are winners.

Bales ran Childers out of Franklin when he was the AD there. Bales claimed that he didn't use his son the correct way. His son was a kicker.

The world is quick to blame one person. The AD hired the best person for the job last year. If things were different this year and they didnt have a ton of pre season injuries who knows how the season goes and maybe he decides to stay. Id rather have the best guy for however long we can keep him than settle for a 2nd guy that is not as good. Its unfortuante that the previous AD didnt renew a coach, hired a coach that literally was ran out of town after one season and then hired another guy that just wasnt working out. The current AD was only responsible for Muncy and if you talk to the players he had things moving in the right direction. The school district didnt have their head in the sand about him possibly leaving, and i honestly believe if they were 7-3 this year the story is different. Bottom line is Muncy had it going the right direction and chose to go back home. I mean if Miamisburg had a good year this year that job wouldnt be open either and he wouldnt have left. Everyone is quick to judge but not look at the overall picture.

It will be interesting to see who wants the position. I have a personal favorite on the current staff but we will see if they throw their hat in the ring.

I don't think anyone is really judging the Muncy hire just stating the obvious that many of us said when he was hired. It was short term and he would be headed back to Miamisburg when the job opened up. Maybe the new AD is the right guy and maybe he will make the right hire again this time around. Bottom line, running Childers out was a horrible decision and if he were still the coach Franklin would probably be competing with Bellbrook for first place in the SWBL instead of with Monroe for last place. The players are still there, the buy in is not, and who can blame the kids with coaching carousel they've dealt with.

Agree. I do not know why they ran Childers out, not sure what all was behind it. Not sure if hes still even interested. I just dont think saying the AD's job should be on the line when he hired the best person. I agree many including me wondered if Muncy would leave but if miamisburg didnt open up for 4 yrs or 5 yrs id love to see where he would have taken this program.

Childers was run out of Franklin because of Bales and daddy ball.....

Congratulations to Bellbrook on an outstanding season. If you want to say Bellbrook is the measuring stick you have to include Valley View.

Yeah if he's just referring to the Southwest recently he's right. but Valley View has carried the water for this league as a whole for a long time. Unquestionably the most consistent program.

Sadly the divisions are essentially different leagues at this point. As much as I'd like it to be what it was in 2005, progress is eternal.

The SWBL as a whole would be a lot better if Franklin and Edgewood were better. In the small schools I think Carlisle is on the right path. Next season will tell us if Waynesville is building a program or this run was just a good class going through. Eaton, Brookville and VV are the solid programs of the division. Hopefully when the new teams join VV and Bellbrook will be able to continue playing each other yearly. It's a good rivalry and, as a VV fan, I have a lot of respect for Bellbrook

The league is better when those 2 programs play yearly .
Both have been excellent over the past decade and it’s really bode well for the league as a whole.

I’m very proud of how far our league has come .

And I can truly say , our group of fans on here have more respect amongst each other then a lot of these other leagues and posters . Makes me proud to be apart of

A lot of respect for our brother/opponets

The league looks to be improving by the year

What’s up with Edgewood , I want the Edgewood prior to joining the swbl to come about . We need it

Soft parents and a soft culture. Most see the Clemmons era as a success, however, if you knew some of the details you would understand how they squandered so many good opportunities. Unwilling to play the best players both ways, making a kid a starter for the first time in his life just because he is a senior, and then having to game plan around him unable to do his job, (over and over again) poor play calling or choking under the gun. All these things contributed to an almost great season every year. After they ran out of hard core parents it was over. That 2016-2018 run was the best it was going to get. Takes a lot of talent to overcome bad coaching. Makes for a long road back for the mostly new staff.

I hear that the next couple of classes are pretty good. Hopefully they can make a run again. Still some cleaning up to do and the junior high program needs improved if the program is going to rise. Football season is better with Edgewood in it, but I'm biased.
