Rough start for the new era in BG… although the new era in Otsego looks very promising!Week one finals...

BG appears to be terrible. Otsego is usually pretty good but from everything I read, they were supposed to have somewhat of a down year this year and they absolutely hammered BG. Can BG win a game? Eh… never mind they have Fostoria, Springfield, Northview and Woodward on the schedule. They will probably somehow end up being 500.Rough start for the new era in BG… although the new era in Otsego looks very promising!
From this mornings Findlay Courier...Any word on Montgomery's injury???
I did mention he and AD are tightIn his now nine seasons at Ross, Chad Long has coached the Little Giants to a 37-49 record after last nights loss. He's had exactly one "good" season. In the "old days" he would have been gone already. Apparently mediocrity is now acceptable to the AD.
Then the AD may need to go too.I did mention he and AD are tight
Otsego should be .500 this year -- better than that exceeds reasonable expectations. Having said that, they have remarkable coaching talent and experience.BG appears to be terrible. I think you’re both right but everything I’ve seen indicates BG may be terrible as wellOtsego should be .500 this year -- better than that exceeds reasonable expectations. Having said that, they have remarkable coaching talent and experience.
Otsego may honestly win the league. That coaching combined with lots of great young talent now getting to the varsity levelOtsego should be .500 this year -- better than that exceeds reasonable expectations. Having said that, they have remarkable coaching talent and experience.
Maybe a hint at the sources?I’m hearing Ryan Montgomery is likely out for the season with a knee injury.
I’d pump the breaks a bit, Oak Harbor, Maumee and Eastwood are all likely to be a challenge and the Knights must get through Tinora and Liberty Center the next two weeks. Their final 5 games will be a gauntlet after starting NBC play with Fostoria and Rossford.Otsego may honestly win the league. They are an absolute darkhorse in that conference. This is very bad for the future of the NLL in my opinion. This would be the equivalent of a Big 10 school losing to a middle of the pack MAC team by 33. Northview seems a little more with it, but those two are going to get taken to the butcher shop this season. I give it 2 years until a breakaway by the smaller 7 occurs41-8 Maumee over Springfield
“Bad for the NLL” is Maumee beating Perrysburg or AW or heaven forbid, Whitmer. Not walloping a basement team that probably couldn’t beat any of the top 3 in the Cardinal. This is very bad for the future of the NLL in my opinion. This will shock some of you but less than a decade ago Maumee was able to beat Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne in football. The best teams in the NBC, and I think Maumee will be right there this year, routinely field teams that could compete with even the best in the NLL most years. Over the last 7 years I’d say Eastwood 2017, Genoa 2018, Oak Harbor 2019 (not NBC at the time), Otsego 2020/2021, Elmwood 2022 and Oak Harbor 2023 would’ve all faired alright against the best the NLL had to offer those years, the depth of the conference isn’t close though.“Bad for the NLL” is Maumee beating Perrysburg or AW or heaven forbid, Whitmer. I meant no disrespect in what I said. It's been discussed that the pieces were there for Maumee to suceed and that they just needed someone to put those pieces together. Looking at what Karchner has done in a short span of time is exciting, and I fully believe a run to an NBC title may be in the cards this year for the Panthers. This will shock some of you but less than a decade ago Maumee was able to beat Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne in football. I know I replied to your post but I guess I probably should’ve replied to Smurf calling the NBC the “MAC” compared to the NLL. I think Karchner has done a good job but I also think the Panthers were heading in a much better direction no matter who took over. This group of classes from last years seniors down to this years sophomores were going to be much improved from the previous 5 or so years regardless. This team and last years are much more similar to the level of play Maumee had pretty much every year before 2018.I meant no disrespect in what I said. Maumee is on an upward slope and Springfield (and to a lesser extent, Northview) will have trouble being relevant until they find themselves in the Cardinal.
You guys missed my point. If the two smallest schools get clocked by another picked to finish middle of the pack in the NBC, those games against Perrysburg, AW, Findlay and Whitmer will be absurd mismatches. Wouldn't shock me to see more realignment in the cards to avoid being Rossford 3.0I know I replied to your post but I guess I probably should’ve replied to Smurf calling the NBC the “MAC” compared to the NLL. And anyone asking for the source… It’s actually him posting it on his own Twitter page. Awful news for the kid. Didn’t even make it through one series of his first game of the senior season.Ryan Montgomery is out for the season with an ACL injury that will require surgery. Really unfortunate news.
With the Montgomery news (Plus me forgetting Springfield exists) I have edit 2 of the following spreads.Week 1 Spread Results
Central Catholic 54-21 Findlay (+35.5)
Perrysburg 28-21 St. Francis de Sales (+22.5)
Whitmer (+12.5) 42-14 Dublin Coffman
Anthony Wayne (+8.5) 35-13 Hilliard Darby
Clay (-5.5) 38-21 Sandusky
Tiffin Columbian 27-11 Fremont Ross (+28.5)
Maumee (-4.5) 41-8 Springfield
Southview (-19.5) 42-0 Northview
Otsego (+2.5) 41-7 Bowling Green
Napoleon (+3.5) 35-34 Defiance
BG, Springfield, AW, and Whitmer made me look silly. Findlay and Napoleon I’m very happy about.
Week 2 Spread Picks
Line Senior @ Findlay (-29.5)
Marysville @ Perrysburg (-23.5)
Whitmer @ Central Catholic (-21.5)
Anthony Wayne (-20.5) @ St. John’s Jesuit
Northview @ Clay (-35.5)
Sandusky @ Fremont Ross (-10.5)
Waite @ Southview (-49.5)
Fostoria @ Bolwing Green (-28.5)
Liberty Center (-25.5) @ Napoleon
That part I think a lot of us would agree with, Northview and Clay are likely to go a combined 1-9 in Buckeye play in 2025-2026 after Springfield and Northview do the same these first 2 years and we’ll see what happens then. I doubt teams will keep volunteering to play up when theirs only 5 Cardinal division teams. You guys missed my point.
