The only problem with this is Ridgewood has consistently played Coshocton and River View who typically have been cupcakes. Newcs was really down a few years ago and then with the division switch it fell out of week 10.

If we are going to have crossovers however it seems like this and Sandy vs Malvern would be natural crossover matchups

I think we are just underrating Mechanicsburg. This is a school that routinely plays MAC schools in the playoffs. I'm sure they were in no way intimidated by Ridgewood.
 
Good week 11 showing for the IVC, I think there are several teams that should make it past week 12 too.

Mechanicsburg is a really good team, RW didn’t get an easy first round draw, that’s for sure!

Excited for the Newcomerstown and RW communities, this should be a fun and exciting week for them! I know there was talk that Newcomerstown was fighting some injuries, hopefully those players are able to make it back this week to be a part of this game.
 
I had some time to look at the matchups and it seems like all the IVC teams other than Newcomerstown are heavy favorites this week. Do you think we will have running clock games in week 12 like we did in 11? A lot of people complain about the 16 team playoff but I kinda like the fact that the first couple weeks the JV's are getting some quality reps for a lot of teams. Playoff football is just different and those reps are invaluable at building depth and the future starters of your program.

I absolutely agree that's why The really good programs like Wood, way and Indian Valley heck I'll throw Malvern in too they almost always reload every year and the second string players are not shocked at the speed of the game come next year.

Yes, Malvern is not in Stark County but has been considered a part of the area by news, sports and media outlets for as long as anyone can remember, as a side note - if anyone has a more comprehensive history of Malvern football history (Games, scores where played and opponent), please let me know.

McDonald got beat by Lowellville. McDonald was the favorite and beat Lowellville in the regular season pretty good.

What years do you have Malvern making the playoffs?

I see 91, 99, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22 ,23, 24.

That's only 15. What's missing?

I once did some research and found that tidbit - I was not alive to know them as the Green Wave
but also in research know about the Marlboro Warriors, the Waynesburg Mohawks, the Louisville Blue Raiders, the Osnaburg Indians, then the East Canton Rustlers, amongst many others like the Navarre Rams, Beach City Pirates, Brewster Railroaders, at the moment I forget the Middlebranch, Taft - basically the glenoak former smaller schools that consolidated.
 
Proud of Coach Gadd and the boys. They have brought relevance back to Newcomerstown football. It was great to see the Trojans and Generals out on the field together. The better team certainly won but there is no reason Newcomerstown can't continue to be successful. Thank you to all of the players and coaches for a fun season.

Actually Mogadore won one in 1954. It was an actual game, not a vote. Mogadore challenged any team in class " B" at the time to a game to determine the championship. Only Lorain St. Mary accepted. They were the favorite and the game was at their stadium. Kind of a haul for Mogadore fans, who despite the distance packed the visitor stands. Mogadore ultimately prevailed and claimed the championship, on the field.

Malvern's 1962 State title is self proclaimed. There wasn't a Class A and Class AA until 1965 so unfortunately only the largest schools won state titles prior to that.

Following the final game of the 1962 season Malvern's coach declared them state champions. Other small school coaches did the same but Toledo Central Catholic is recognized as the only state champion in. 1962.

It's kind of crazy to think of only one division.

Middlebranch nickname was the "Diamonds".

Best guess is some type of consolidation occurred that brought some unincorporated areas into the school district and led the district to change the nickname.

no consolidation at Malvern except a one room school in Oneida that had to close in the 30's
 
Garaway is going to have to play perfect on Friday to have a Chance to win. No turnover. Thought they played good on Friday. Defense looked good when the starters were in.

Does anyone know when all IVC is coming out???

Already did, came out last Wednesday I think. You can find it on Facebook on WTUZ or BigTime Sports page.
