2024 Federal League

Congrats to Hoover on the 27-10 win. Panthers played a pretty good first half leading 10-6 at halftime. The third quarter was a total debacle. Perry received the opening second half kickoff and after two holds and a personal foul, it was second down and 30. Those mistakes cost them field position. Vikings start their drive on the Perry 48. Score 7 or 8 plays later. Ok. Not a big hole to climb out of down by less than a TD. On the Panthers first play after the kickoff, they fumble on their own 35. From there it was all downhill for Perry. Hoover scores 21 unanswered points in the third quarter. Perry really never threatened after that. Very disappointing. After a 3-1 start Perry has lost 4 in a row and things look rough for next week.

Wake wasn't happy after the game. He didn't even stay of the field for the post game huddle and just walked off by himself. I think it's inevitable but Slates has to go. He just isn't the man for the job. They haven't just regressed as the season has gone on, they also seem to regress through every game. They come out strong, maybe have a lead at halftime and end up getting beat in the 2nd half. And the play calling inside the 10 at the end of the 1st half was atrocious.

Agree. When the clock stopped for the penalty offsetting PFs I figured they’d have time send a play in… it even looked like a play was being sent in. But when they started the clock. They ran a ball spike to stop the clock. I was really confused.

Clear to me that this is a pattern for teams led by Slates, starting the year off strong then sucking the rest of the year.

Granted Perry was down 3 two way starters. 2 corners and a safety, plus one was a RB and the other two WR’s. It looked to me Perry had trouble setting the edge because of these players being out and Hoover took advantage with their WR jet toss sweeps. Offensively, Perry just couldn’t get much going in the second half. Credit Hoover’s defense for some of that and Perry’s pre and post snap penalties / lack of execution for the rest.

This is embarrassing for Perry. Started off the year so strong and got everyone’s hopes up. The Panthers have so many athletes how do they struggle so much scoring?

What’s the common denominator? But “WE” all know the answer! You don’t have to say it.

I thought Hoover played their best half of football the second half against Perry. I've only seen 4 of Hoover's games this year. If Hoover wins out they might get a home game.

Perry has been the same since Wakefield retired. Slates gets us to a good 3-1 start then it all falls apart. Time for a new coach and new culture
FED coaches are use to defending against the wing-t. Out of conference schools don't see it. Slates hasn't had the bruising backs that Wakefield has had. Where'd those big running backs go?

Can Glenoak finally get one in the win column?
Yeah this is their best chance. Although if things keep imploading at Perry they may have a shot there too.

Now for the Perry fans out there, if they let slates go, who would be likely candidates, or better yet, do you think there is something better out there.

I say that because there are less and less people willing to coach and less and less people getting into education.

What would he need to be more successful?

Also, I am still shocked at how anemic GlenOak is on offense.
