2024 Elder Freshman Football

Does Ruth have the size to potentially play RB? I know Trey will stroke out when I say this, but I feel pretty confident in Estep being at least a 2 yr starter.

Also, I’m not big into the rah rah stuff but both HCs at the lower levels seem to resonate well with the players. Perhaps being younger makes them more relatable.
Why move (from what I’ve read and seen) a talented QB to RB or WR? Why not just let him develop throughout the program?

Omar likes to write off teams and members of those teams early and often. It’s his “thing”, none of us pretend to understand.

Not writing him off, but it looks like the odds are pretty high Estep will be a multi yr starter. Why not find a role for him to get on the field

The Elder offense usually has the QB as the leading rusher anyway. Brass, Ramsey as a wildcat Qb, Luebbe , and Bittner were all the leading rushers the last few years.

Exactly, I don’t think finding/developing RBs is an area of focus at Elder. If they get a great one like Glatthar they will definitely use them but they seem to be fine with the QB handling the bulk of the running duties.

Yes. Freshman Ruth is a stud basketball player also.
Try not to use the word “stud”. There is a guy lurking out there named Trey/Doublehelix who will use this against you if he can 3 years from now.
Trey has been banned from Elder web sites twice but rest assured he will be back.
Trey doesn’t hate Elder but he appears not to like Elder posters.

He hates Elder. But he was right to be critical of me hyping up Freshmen players too much. That’s certainly a trap I try to avoid now. Everything needs to be looked at within context. However, I don’t think it’s far fetched to see Estep performing well in Varsity scrimmages as a Sophomore and think he’s likely to be the starter for at least 2, if not 3 seasons.

Under that system, you’ve either got to be one of the fastest players on the team or be built like a LB. Not to mention, it puts a lot of wear & tear on the QB.

I think we can all agree Ramsey and the coaches will figure it out and put the players in best position to help the team succeed.
My concern isn’t that the staff won’t find a solution, it’s that no solution exists for them.

I heard that they are splitting between two rbs, mulvany, and Beir and they Beir looked like a better relieving back and mulvany was more of a power back
2 good running backs and a running QB I think the running game will be more than acceptable at elder for the next 4 years

It would be great if they could keep both at RB and take some of the load off the QB. Brass was built like a LB and even he got dinged up from all of the hits.

Yes Harrison. Turner is from West Clermont. Turner played QB last year. Big kid not sure where they have him but I think he scored the first TD against OH.
Harrison & West Clermont? Sounds like Elder expanded the talent pool. Good.

It's a good thing, but it's nothing new. They have had Harrison and West Clermont in the last few years. You have this belief everyone at Elder is against outsiders. That is a myth Trey started on here.

I know of some Elder grads in the Harrison area. I think Elder could see an uptick of students from that area, especially with some things going on at Harrison.

People have been saying Harrison would be a big boost to Elder enrollment since I was in school.

Some recognizable names on this roster, particularly Ott, Poland, Kamstra, Kelsey, Ackerman and Hasselbeck

Freshman game was blow out. They took Ruth out after 1st q and rest of the starters out at halftime.
Glad the reserves got a chance for some quality PT. The Freshmen coaches have a tough job balancing trying to win vs keeping a team of 75+ players engaged.

The 2s on defense looked the part. Kelly back up qb looked good. Oline struggled a little
