Exciting few weeks to watch West Branch's run to the state title.
So many moments.
Beau Alazaus allowed two earned runs in 27 tournament innings.
Anthony Perry - maybe - had five 1-2-3 innings in his three tournament starts but he allowed just 3 earned runs in 21 innings.
The defense played exceptionally well except for one inning against Jefferson.
WB scored the go-ahead run(s) in the sixth inning or later in the last three games. They scored three runs in the state championship game in the top of the seventh inning with exactly one ball being hit out of the infield.
Jaxon Robb, of course, with the walkoff hit against Kenston.
Five of their six hits against Indian Creek came with two outs and four came with runners in scoring position.
Charlie Biskup with an RBI single in the 6th on Friday and leading off the 7th with a single on Sunday.
Gavin Bell with a great bunt in the seventh inning against Badin.
Aaron Tucker had RBIs in the seventh inning of both games the final weekend.
Hunter Shields played tremendous defense behind the plate.
The outfield of Carson Wike, Bell and JT Thomas was outstanding.
I hope their effort was appreciated. A great group of young men who played together and everyone contributed.

Heard they have another state championship caliber team coming up in a few years as well. Congratulations to those kids and the community again. Can I ask why the head coach is stepping down?
 
Stepping down from HEAD coach because he wants more time to watch/help his son with football as that is what he is looking to play at the next level. I believe he plans to be on staff as an assistant coach, but this move allows him to go on visits with his son, etc. during his senior year.
He has mentioned there is a bunch of other "stuff" you have to deal with as the head coach that is time-consuming and annoying. Lol.
