2023 Southwestern Buckeye League

I tend to agree with everyone.

Locks:
Valley View
Brookville
Waynesville
Bellbrook
Eaton
Madison

Potential:
Carlisle
Oakwood
Edgewood
Monroe
Franklin

Lots of carry over games between Carlisle, Oakwood, Monroe, Franklin, and Edgewood. All could potentially get in but need to win against one another. Interesting to see Madison is already considered "In" by Drew Pasteur. Will be interesting to see where they fall if they finish at 4-6. Drew also has Edgewood at 90% chance of making the playoffs, Oakwood as 86%, Monroe is at 52%, Franklin at 42%, and Carlisle at 23%. Based on his projections, the league has a good chance at having 8 playoff teams.

Bellbrook wins easily over Monroe, running clock. Going to go with Oakwood over Carlisle, not sure if Lawson will be back for Carlisle or not. Waynesville with a running clock over Madison. Ross and Franklin I am thinking is a toss up. I will go with Ross. VV over Edgewood. Edgewood might hang around in the 1st half. VV pulls away in 2nd half. Game of the week Brookville vs Eaton. Brookville will try to grind it out and keep the ball away from Eaton. Eaton will look to exploit Brookville's man coverage with their trio of recievers. I am going to take Eaton. If they get ahead of Brookville that takes them out of their game. Eaton 31 Brookville 21.

Massie is DIV, right and Edgewood is....? Massie may be ranked #1 in the polls right now buuttt, they may not be the best team in DIV...Glenville, Steubenville, Perkins, Hartley and Sheridan to name a few. Not something I would want to hang my hat on right now as a "good loss" to make a case of we may be better than what you think.

Plus when you're D2 and get blown out against D3 and D4 it isn't a good loss

And when not that long ago 7 and 8 win teams would miss. I get the money and other reasons for expanded playoffs but it has certainly changed the dynamic.
I feel like adding 4 teams would have been more ideal . Not sure how they would have went about it but doubling the playoffs in numbers has somewhat takin away from regular season and the playoffs for that matter. IMO

In regards to the playoffs, I've mentioned it on the OOC scheduling of Oakwood, Carlisle, and Madison. I believe the fact that those teams had some OOC success, have probably benefited the league as a whole when it comes to computer points. Those three teams won a total of 8 OOC games. Including wins over Milton Union that likely goes 7-3/8-2, Miami East who finishes 6-4, Preble Shawnee which should finish 7-3, and Gamble Montessori that should finish 6-4. Those wins are why Oakwood, Carlisle, and Madison are in the playoff hunt, but also passed on some nice points to the league during the league season.

CM is the only team that Edgewood has loss to that's ranked #1 in the state. Badin is ranked #2.
Uh sorry I guess that makes schedule much more easier. Madison played 4 JV teams, was ranked in the state, and may win one more this season

Name a player massie has recruited from anywhere. Get educated before you spout off. In the last 20 years I can only name two to four kids that came to massie from another district that were worth a darn. Massie does it right from the peewee program up. Massie has lost more kids to other districts (Moeller) than it has gotten.

Uh as a Southwest Ohio fan, I have seen this for years. Public schools who are the best in the state,(see Trotwood,Springfield,Colerain,Massie,ETC.), play the same game private school powers play, go Uh get the kids you need. Uh doubt, no Im sure no Massie kid could ever play at Moeller.Get real

I don't know why you keep being up Madison to me. I'm a VV guy. I just feel sorry for the Madison kids because of what they went through coaching wise. Plus the first four games, they probably would've lost at least 3 of those games the last two years.

If I remember correctly Edgewood and Ross were teams that were supposed to show the SWBL how to play football and would "dominate", to paraphrase. Now, that prediction is a turd down the toilet, there is an excuse of recruiting for teams they lost against. WTF?!? Fish or cut bait. Maybe if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's arse when it jumped. hoser3, take your rhetoric to a Glenville page and see how that works out for you.

Agree, Clinton Massie is a homegrown program.

Agree, Clinton Massie is a homegrown program.
Hoser grabs and reaches for whatever he/she can

that is one of the more “ridiculous” things he’s EVER said.

Now massie is stealing their players huh ???
valley view is too , right ?
Bellbrook would be so much better if kids didn’t get recruited by alter , man we would be undefeated ! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️😂😂

Week 8 predictions:

Monroe @ Bellbrook
Eaton
@ Brookville
Oakwood @ Carlisle
Waynesville @ Madison
VV @ Edgewood
Franklin @ Ross

Monroe looked pretty bad last week, and I know they've been destroyed by injuries. Eaton played a pretty sloppy game all things considered and still wiped the floor with them.

Eaton @ Brookville should be a great game, and I'm super excited to watch. If Brookville can come up with an answer to the passing attack, and are able to effectively run the football they have a chance to pull an upset here.

I've been pretty impressed with Oakwood's QB/RB, but they just lack the depth to be a real contender this year. If their one big lineman and linebackers can stop the dive, I like their chances against a disjointed Carlisle squad.

Madison has been (predictably) reeling since they started league play. They've had a very tough last 3 weeks, and it's not looking any easier this week. I expect Waynesville to win by a few scores.

This is a good year to have a cross-league against a historically really good Edgewood team. VV is far from unbeatable, but they're a solid squad and well-coached.

I like Ross in this matchup between 2 underperformers. Franklin's 2 wins are against bad teams, but I think this will definitely be close.

Game to watch this week is definitely Eaton/Brookville, but the VV/Edgewood matchup could get spicy as well!

Really good Edgewood team? They got 2 wins. Don't think that's too good.

Monroe @ Bellbrook
Eaton
@ Brookville - In a close one. Brookville will try to grind it out and eat up the clock, taking possessions away from Eaton. If Eaton's turns it over their typical couple of times a game, and has too many of those drive killing penalty's, Brookville wins this one.
Oakwood @ Carlisle -
Waynesville @ Madison
VV @ Edgewood
Franklin @ Ross
