2023 Southwestern Buckeye League

true statement @Spartan119

I am curious to see if Waynesville is the real deal this year! Think it will be a good test against Ross this week to see where they stand. Might be able to challenge on the small side. They do have a few games in the next couple of weeks that will tell the story of this team for sure!

Not my words about the Franklin kid. You must be thinking about someone else who said that... and if anyone knows anything about football.... a playmaker/star at QB makes a world of difference in your team! Especially in a spread offense. So take out the QB from VV and you get what you get all year long in the first half against Carlisle.
Take the QB out of that game… along with the starting LB, starter on OL, two WR, starter in the secondary. Almost like you take a handful of starters out of a game and the team doesn’t look the same. Crazy how that works.

Goodness gracious. It’s almost like these Franklin people and Valley View people are saying the exact same thing…. Every team faces adversity…… put up or shut up???

Hmmm…. And undefeated against the SWBL

you are smoking some crack if you think Edgewood beats anyone in the GCL CoEd other than Carroll.

Uh the mighty Falcons 4 victories have come against schools who are 5 -15 so far this year.Good luck against Badin, Alter,Mcnick, and .CJ

UH, no but im smelling some crack from your posts. Badin will smoke every team in league, other than that Edgewood would compete with all the teams in league.CJ is a difficult team to play.Way different offense hard to defend. Edgewood tried to play normal defense with a safety in the box, didnt work. You must play at least a six man d-line.That 170lb safety against a 250lb o-lineman is a joke.Edgewood got out coached.

Week 6:

Edgewood vs Bellbrook
Carlisle vs Brookville
Madison vs Eaton
Franklin
vs Monroe
Oakwood vs Valley View
Ross
vs Waynesville

My SWBL Rankings for Week 6 would be:

1. Valley View
2. Bellbrook
3. Waynesville
4. Brookville
5. Eaton
6. Edgewood
7. Monroe
8. Ross
9. Oakwood
10. Madison
11. Franklin
12. Carlisle

I think VV is clearly the top tier. BB, Waynesville, Brookville, and Eaton are in a tier. Then Edgewood, Ross, Monroe, and Oakwood in a tier. Madison, Franklin, and Carlisle in the last tier.
So Eaton losing by one score with backup QB in most of the second quarter and all of the second half puts valley view top tier and Eaton in 5th? Not to mention when valley view didn't have Henson in the first half against Carlise they put up 7 points

I believe he's missed at least 2 if not 3 games. If he's out maybe that changes where they throw the ball?
Yep. Missed season opener, came back for Milton had 4/52 before that game turned into a blowout and got hurt on his lone reception early against Bellbrook. Hasn’t played since.

This is the second Eaton poster to respond to my original rankings, but I feel like no one is actually reading the tiers that I point out after my rankings. For one, it's just my personal point of view. Two, I have BB, Waynesville, Brookville, and Eaton all in a similar tier. I think by season's end, Bellbrook ends up second overall in the league, but right now, I think those four are pretty interchangeable. Eaton has difficult games left on the schedule including head to heads with Brookville and Waynesville. I wish Bellbrook and Eaton played, but they don't crossover this season.

Since Eaton continues to be the school that questions where they fall in the league rankings, lets look at how those four teams compare to one another. At this point in the season, the best result the Eagles have is probably an 8 point loss to Valley View. They beat three teams with a combined record of 2-13. Then in Week 4 beat an Oakwood team, that sits at (2-3), 31-21. Bellbrook has played a far tougher schedule overall with a nice win over Tipp City and two close losses to Alter and Miamisburg. Waynesville beat Oakwood much worse than Eaton did and has a nice win over Brookville. Brookville is the one school that doesn't necessarily have a staple win at this point in the season, but probably did play an overall stronger schedule the first five weeks than Eaton.

From this stand point, the argument is probably more of who should be ranked higher, Brookville or Eaton. But Bellbrook and Waynesville have done more in my view as we head into Week 6.

And ultimately Eaton will get a chance to prove they belong higher in the rankings with a crossover game against Monroe and two league games with Brookville and Waynesville.

Well said, it will all sort itself out over the next few weeks. Hopefully the league is able to get 10 schools in the playoffs and make some noise!!

My comments were directed at Hoser, as he stated multiple times that outside of Badin that the GCL CoEd was terrible in the preseason

so thanks for admitting what I said BB.

how to do you think Bellbrook vs. Edgewood is going to turn out Friday?
Well, I remember coming into the year there was a lot of chirping from the Edgewood fans on here talking about how they were coming in to take over the league and that us swbl teams couldn’t hang
We heard how physical you guys were, and that no one would be able to keep up with Edgewood well, we are roughly one day away from finding out
Good luck

Uh the only thing I said was Edgewood could be very good.Uh didnt work out. Maybe the loss of your 2 captains and all-ohio players might make a little difference. Also the death of the longtime D-Cordinator might make a little difference, and a schedule which includes 4 teams who are 19-1.Uh never saw any posts that said the league couldnt keep up with Edgewood.

He sure was fun to watch! I went and seen him Saturday, rushed for over 100 yards. Guy is still producing
The league was loaded with amazing Rbs those years. He was very good but also buffered his numbers from running from Qb a lot of the time, he to me was a Jack of all trades I wouldn’t put him over Genslinger definitely not close in speed and Wallen Brookville was just as good and Carlisle had Reed and Chambers both physical freaks. I really can’t think of a year SWBL was deeper or more talented to be honest.

Edgewood still has an opportunity to do well within the league as well. It won't be easy though against Bellbrook. The Eagles have a strong defense and a physical running game. I think it'll be a good benchmark game for both programs for this season.
