2023 season

Do you think the folks that promised the fields at UA are the same ones who had/have a hand in the Moe fb stadium? šŸ˜‰Sorry, too easy.
And I know…announcement coming soon. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø
I am actually really curious what the story is on the UA fields, they bought that complex for $5 million almost 10yrs ago. I assume by the time leases ran out on those businesses, the soccer fields were just no longer the priority.

Read everything before you comment.
I don’t need to read anonymous postings to make comments on what I’ve personally experienced. The numbers are really low and trending down for a reason. I hope the changes you mention help them recover quicker than some of the large corporations with the same philosophies.
Please, back to soccer….

ALL of that was stated.

Badin - 2
Fairfield -0

what a great crowd between two neighboring schools! Badin was all over Fairfield and has a really good defense. Fairfield GK made some great saves.

Reading through the Centerville/Walsh game summaries, it is obvious the coach is still at Walsh after the tournament incident last year.

This was a hotly debated topic among my circle of friends and was pretty well talked about on here. I did not think he should be banned from coaching ever again, but assumed there would be some punishment.

Does anyone have any details of how this was handled by OHsaa and the school? Saw that he was running camps this summer and coached against Centerville. Was there no consequences at all?

UA has lots of issues when dealing with the soccer team. 1. Enrollment numbers are way down 2. They are a Volleyball and Academic 1st school. Which is ok. Soccer is an afterthought. 3. While coach Schaeper is a decent coach and a great guy he is not really at the GGCL level. They do no off season tournaments or training. He personally feels weight lifting is not important. They do not start their off season program until after 4th of July. Many of teams have already started scrimmage play by that time. He plays a very simple style of direct play that is easy to defend. 4. The level of nepotism in the school is immense. Unless you are a legacy or a well known local player he doesnt give the time of day. Everyone who coaches is some way connected to Ursuline except the 1 assistant JV coach who played at STX and was coached by the JV coach. Coach Schaeper's wife is an Alumni, The assistant coach is an alumni, and the JV coach daughters are coaches of others sports and are alumni. 5. they have many good players who are or were walking the halls who opted to not play. Several d1 players. They felt like UA soccer was a waste of time and didnt come out. While MND had players like Kohls and all their D1 players on the field. UA couldnt get these girls to play.

This happens at alot of schools. But I know MND, SUA, even Seton had this last year. While I only know of 1 at Seton, there were several at SUA and MND (d1) players who played GA instead. But yes I see your point.

Another challenge is coaching club affiliations where some people just don't want to deal with it

Kohls played MND varsity for 2 years, prior to being promoted from CU’s 2nd team to the GA. We heard when offered GA spot, she let CU know she was playing HS, and was looking at other clubs to accommodate. CUP then relaxed its ā€œno HSā€ rule for all GA teams. This kind aligns with the recent trend of more GA girls playing HS now versus 4-5 years ago.

Some very interesting results this week. the MND/MM, Milford/Kings and Loveland/Little Miami have to be raising some red flags within their coaching ranks. MND 0-0 vs MM is an absolute disaster of a match. MM lost to Harrison last week. Harrison. I say it again for those in the back. MM lost to Harrison. And the CHL should be embarrassed that Batavia has now beaten Wyoming, Indian Hill and Tied Madeira. The 3 perennially strongest teams in the league +/- Mariemont. When I said the CHL is a disaster I meant it. Could this be the year Reading gets a league win besides Finneytown and Deerpark? They have never beaten any of the other CHL teams. Ever. I think Reading, DP and Finnyhood should join and "save?" the SWOC.On the flip side, that 7-1 Waynesville win vs Alter was the worst loss in Alter history who returned their best player from last year. The Hill has played some epic games vs. them including some delicious playoff battles so I have paid attention to this program for years. This is the same Alter team that shut out Centerville 2 weeks ago. Summit and CCDS Still dominating and play each other tomorrow. Seton doing returning State Champ things. Carroll undefeated in the GCL, Milford undefeated in the ECC with a couple tougher games coming up. MND and Seton play lots of conference games the next two weeks. Interested to see how this plays out.

Batavia has been improving and competing pretty well with these teams for the last several years. And no, Reading is not beating anyone but Ftown and DP this year either.

(I’ll come back to Empty Cup at a later date. He’s much less a priority for me now that he readily admits, albeit two years after it was obvious to any objective observer (who watched local D1 games, not IH games), that best GGCL team was/is best in Cincy area.)

For now, though, and notwithstanding the ā€œback to soccerā€sentiment, I’m curious, 73homer, as to what you mean by large corporations with same philosophy, in the context of UA and its admissions. Thanks!

The one guy said a MND player that graduated recently was better than Rose Lavelle. So that just loses credibility right there.

From time to time you have some pretty insightful comments. Lately though.....

Interesting you fail to mention Taylor, the reigning CHL champ (along with Wyoming) in your comments. Also interesting (maybe uneducated?) that Mariemont is an afterthought in mentioning perennial leaders in the league - it looks like they've been in the top two for 14 of the last 20 years, top 3 in 19 of those 20.

If you're basing your Reading comments on their current record and recent "dominant performances", they've played arguably 4 of the worst teams in Cincinnati, with coach allowing his daughter to score 6 goals in a 10-0 drubbing - pretty unethical, and better should be expected from BS. An no, they will not beat anyone besides Finneytown or Deer Park this year.

In regards to Batavia, the aforementioned teams (Wyoming, Indian Hill and Madeira) all play traditionally strong non-conference schedules. There's a reason they all, including Mariemont and Summit, have Batavia on their schedules. Batavia is a quality opponent.

I don't think the instigous was Kohl's as much as it was Dudokovich back in 2019, when she left GA for OE so she could play HS they relaxed their rules so they wouldn't lose Jones and Prohaska as well.
