My guess is they are happy with the amount of kids the school already has and the way they recruit as is. I don't even know what the argument is anymore?? You didn't reply back to my earlier post about kids from X and Ursula coming to Elder because your point didn't make any sense.
Basically you are saying Elder doesn't recruit CPS or far away lands because the dads would be upset with that. I think it's simply because they are happy with what they have and have always had and its nothing to do with upsetting dad's. Whether people like it or not Elder is happy with how the model has worked for generations and continues to work. Sports IMO doesn't play into how they recruit. It's really as simple as that. The Kelseys had nothing to do with Elder when they transferred from RB and it certainly wasn't for sports. They like anyone else who wants to come to Elder are welcome if they truly want to be there, not just for sports.
I'm not arguing anything, I'm just giving my point of view.
This also isn't about me thinking Elder should be doing it a certain way, or is doing something "wrong". I honestly don't care if they go get athletes or not. Have at it, see what happens. Or continue to roll out the red carpet for Logan Legacy, whatever, I don't care.
HOWEVER, my point is that this forum has to make up their mind. You're either happy with watching feeder kids perform, or you think they need more talent. But you need to stop straddling the fence. If you're happy with watching the feeder kids, great, enjoy it for what it is. But know that it's going to be tough to compete with the likes of those that do go get that talent. Regardless of where you sit on the fence, it's obvious there's a talent gap between Elder and some of the top tier teams they play, especially in the last 10 years since open borders too off everywhere but Elder. That's the reality with focusing your enrollment on Catholic feeder kids mostly from the westside. Kyle Rudolph comes through that door once every 20 years, if you're even that lucky.
And if you want them to go get talent, which is alot of people in this forum, evidence by the millions of posts saying how far they need to expand, you also have to realize that that will take a complete culture change for them to even consider it. So every year, when Elder plays a team and gets beats with amazing athletes, stop saying that Elder needs to go get some of those. You're not wrong, but they also aren't in the business of going to find them. They never have been, and never will be under the current administration. Also, deep down, you know that if they recruited in a bunch of public or outsider studs that took roster spots and playing time, the parents would revolt, especially the legacy daddys. They absolutely would and you know it.
There's nothing about Elder that says they're going to do this, yet why does everyone expect it?
