2022 EBC

Salem 63 East Liverpool 10
West Branch 73 Revere 28
Alliance 28 Bedford 38
Carrollton 77 St Thomas 0
Marlington 24 Ridgewood 28
Minerva 0 Covid 66

I think Alliance loses this week. I seen Kayden Davis had is arm in a soft cast. Not to sure if he's playing,

- Minerva escapes losing a football game for first time since October 23, 2020

Speaking of the EBC, Why not try to get Dover to come to the league since they are looking for a new conference? Add the Tornados, a lot of teams like Carrollton, Alliance, Salem, West Branch lose out on computer points by playing a team that gets them ZERO computer points.
They would get 0 points playing Dover because none are going to beat Dover

Travel times in the conference already are brutal, can't imagine adding in Dover and throwing another hour long trip on the schedule of every team

I agree. Why force Louisville out and bring in Dover? Dover used to be in the NBC and left due to travel and now their enrollment is bigger.

I think both should be brought in to get the league back up to 8. Also Dover left for a conference with better travel that unfortunately no longer exists. The 45 minute drives to face EBC teams are much better than the 1.5 hr drives they’re doing now. Having said that, someone pointed out previously that the conference has slowly been moving east (as Dover, Northwest, Louisville, and South- the western-most schools- are all gone), so travel wouldn’t be as good as the old days of the NBC. Dover to Canton south is a much better drive than Dover to Salem. Still it’s better than being independent…

The EBC put all of its eggs in one basket trying to get East Liverpool and Beaver Local and failed. The conference is stuck at 6 teams and when one team decides to abandon ship it will fold. The question now is who will be that team?

The west branch youth team reached out to the league that has All the ne8 teams in it, that doesn’t hold weight in terms of HS tho

Salem and West Branch moving to Week 1 instead of Week 10 would be interesting. I for one am a fan of it being Week 10 and then remaining in league. Any chance WB would join Salem in the NE8?

I think the talks of either team leaving the conference is overblown, like I've said before if either wanted to be in the NE8 they would already be there

They weren’t asked when the league was formed and were only recently approached after Howland fell through. this is all recent. Like…. 2 weeks

IMO I think Salem gets out. I have no inside information. Just my feeling. More natural rivalries out this way. Salem v Minerva/ Carrollton doesn’t do much for me and really Marlington either. I’m not bashing those schools just kinda blah when we play them in 99% of athletics

WB and Alliance yea those are pretty good. We are a true Mahoning Co school. No need really for us to be to far outside our remote area. Go Quakes

Carrollton - Salem had some great games the last few years.. Are Alliance, Marlington, Minerva and obviously WB all pretty close to Salem as far a distance? Carrollton is probably closer than some of those NE8 teams too. I don't know much about Salem but i would think the EBC makes sense as far as travel.

It seems like in a perfect world for Mahoning County FOOTBALL fans, the NE8 would dump Jefferson and Lakeview and get West Branch and Salem. Distance would be fair for most teams, every team would have the capability of winning the league when they have a strong class, and nobody would be the whipping boy year after year. I can't see it happening though. Sigh...other sports...

Couldn't agree more. Playing Salem does absolutely nothing for me either. Never felt like they were a part of the nbc or ebc. From the moment they joined, it always seemed like just a matter of time till they went back to their first love. I got no problem with them getting that Mahoning feeling back, even if it means the demise of the ebc. The league is in a death spin anyhow (as are so many other leagues).
So Salem, take your "blah" and your whining and crying and hit the bricks. I'll lose zero sleep here in lowly Carrollton

It wasn’t a put down to the teams I mentioned. Carrollton has great facilities. Mahoning co just fits us better

You understand that I’m making a reference as to teams that would generate more gate sales right?

a Friday night football game vs Marlington
Would not generate as big a gate as say
South Range

it’s really about ticket sales when you break it down

I saw a picture on q92 FB page of the Alliance game last night .I think the opposing team had maybe 20 people there. I bet the aviators covered their rent to Mount on that one. I know it’s out of conference but holy smokes . This was a bit off topic I may add

I’m not whining I’m just saying it would be a better atmosphere playing teams a little bit closer to home

I understand completely and I agree completely. Even though I am from Carroll County, I CAN comprehend what you are saying! As far as I am concerned, Salem can leave tomorrow so you can start raking in the big bucks.

Wasn't talking about you whining. That reference was for your head football coach. The guy is a good coach, but his constant crying about anything and everything gets old, especially in close games or when he's losing.
