2021 Elder Football

Pick Central should be strong again especially in the trenches. We return all four starting d-linemen from last year. Two are committed to UC, one is committed to Ball State, and the 4th has offers from UC, Indiana, and several MAC schools.

On the o-line we return 3 starters. One is committed to Rutgers and another has multiple offers including UC.

This is what tips things in PC favor. Elder will be inexperienced on the lines. PC will have a clear advantage here.

That and Elder does not have anyone that can cover Sonny Styles. And that’s no indictment on Elder’s Secondary, which might be the fastest secondary Ramsey has ever had, Styles is just an elite level talent.

will he do what the kid from trinity did at the pit? can't remember his name, but damn........he was a pretty good receiver.

James Quick… and I doubt it bc he also plays Defense, which lessens then number of snaps he’ll take on Offense.

He is definitely a threat. PC will score points. Elder just has to get some stops and keep the ball moving on offense. Remember, Elder shut down Ajou Ajou.

That’s a little different. That team was pathetically coached and ran like 5 or 6 plays. I’m not saying he’ll light up Elder light James Quick did, but I don’t see Elder shutting him down either.

I think you are over estimating Sonny’s role on our offense. Defense is his primary focus. I expect him to wreck havoc and be all over the field making plays on that side of the ball.

He’ll make some cameo appearances on offense. Typically when we’ve had a player like his we’ve used them on a very limited basis on offense early in the season and throughout most of the regular season. As we progress through the playoffs and it’s win or go home, their role on offense increases.

See Xavier Henderson in 2017. He’d maybe get 1-2 offensive touches a game in the regular season and even the first few playoff games, but ended up rushing for 153 yards in the state championship game.

I’m expecting Elder-PC to be a Great HS Football Game!

Funniest thing is you think you’re smart. He’s listed as an Athlete on recruiting sites. I know he wasn’t a big part of their Offense last yr, but I thought he might step in and play WR more often this year with his brother having graduated. Also, it’s probably not going to be a “great” game. I think PC wins by 14-17 points.

I know you’re not smart enough to make deductions off past events, but Elder typically does not play well when they have an extended away game (1+ Hr drive). And then add into the fact PC is very strong in the trenches where it’s a big ? for Elder, and I think PC will probably win comfortably. I’m guessing it’ll be similar to the Cathedral game last season.

And just bc I think Elder will lose this game doesn’t mean I believe they’ll be a bad team. They’re going to start off the season very young on the lines and I expect them to improve as the season goes on. I think it’ll be similar to the 2017 season where you see them to start to click at the end of the year.

Anyone have news on starting lineups as camp is going? Any transfers in or out? I heard Southerland who would have vied for playing time at corner maybe transfered. What about Rueter who transfered in from Walnut? Is he getting any reps in as a backup QB?

Excuses already???

I think there are some obvious locks to start, but I don't think anyone will know until Friday when they scrimmage West. They probably won't have jerseys either so it will be tough for average fan to figure out who is who.

That would be a shame, if true. No idea where Reuter is going to play, but he’ll find the field somehow.

Lakota West should be a good scrimmage to see where this team is at a week into August. Assuming it will be as all first scrimmages go, a 10 for 10 play offense/defense switch type?

I don't think Scrimmage 1 has ever been a game scrimmage. I always remember it being 10 plays/10plays, and then some down and distance in the 2nd part. I guess that could have changed in recent years. Scrimmage 2 has always been game scrimmage with starters playing at least the first half.

Right, 1st scrimmage of August is typically the 10/10 play. 2nd scrimmage is your “game” tempo scrimmage. Haven’t heard anything differently, but you never know with how the summer rules have changed these last two years.

As someone else pointed out in the Football forum, doubles just started over the weekend for most teams since the OHSAA moved up the start of the football season but didn’t move up the start of the official practice season. So I think there’s even less reason to expect a “game” type scrimmage.

Another poster told me the numbers for Frosh Football were good with about 85 kids signing up. I don’t think you can understate the appeal of the Fitness Center as measure of marketing the athletic program,

No doubt that has to help a ton. Any word on Shaun Alexander’s nephew? I assume he’s going to be playing freshman level this year? Or is their a chance they move him up?

Think he’s already been moved up to JV and they’re going to give him a shot to start both ways at MLB and RB. I’ve heard he definitely looks the part of a potential major D1 recruit.

Good to hear. As crazy as it may sound ive already seen a couple articles on 247 talking about him and hyping him as a major potential recruit.
