I'm over the slavery thing as a whole. Feel bad for their past but that was 5-6 generations ago. I hate that people think WE should feel bad for it. I mean none of my family was even in America when that happened...
And as a person of Cuban heritage who presently has relatives I havent met at age of30 because they are under a dictator and cant leave the country, I think we need to broaden the scope of people suffering as portrayed by the media/film.

Hitler was going after anyone who wasn't perceived to be Aryan, which included other white people. They were very specific.
I would have voted for Gravity. Years from now folks will be talking about this film in the cinema classes around the world for its directing techniques, stellar acting in difficult circumstance, and production level breakthroughs; 12 Years a Slave will be viewed as a well acted realistic reminder that slavery was bad.

In many other years I think Leo's performance would have won. Tough year going against slavery AND aids
McConaughey ruled! Plus he lost all that weight and it was truly meaningful. Cate Blanchett deserved Oscar also. Jared Leto ruled! And he was beautiful,
Lupita Nyong'o deserved it!
