STOP paying people not to work - NOW!!

A guy I work with went to four (4) fast-food places last evening to get dinner ............ 2 of the four were closing early because of a lack of help, and the other had only one or two workers and would not be able to supply an order for 25 minutes. He gave up.

This is what happens when liberals are in charge.
Seems to me that the universe is sending a sign to your obese friend that he doesn't need to keep eating fast food.

Poll: Many Unemployed Americans in No Hurry to Return to Workforce

A new survey conducted by the U.S. Chamber finds that nearly one-third of unemployed workers don't expect to return to work anytime this year -- and half of those say they will never return. Roughly 28% of respondents agreed that unemployment benefits were a key reason for the reluctance to return to work. (Ohio will end its participation in federal government's supplemental unemployment payment program on June 27.)

Other factors included childcare and other family care needs (24%), a lack of available jobs due in sectors that are still suffering (28%), and COVID-19 concerns (26%).

Meanwhile, here are the current trends in the U.S. labor force participation rate and Ohio's workforce participation rate. 6/8/2021

The other big reason (which of course business doesn't want to mention) are wages. The good news for working class is that they are definitely seeing upward movement in wage growth, despite pubs best efforts.

In any case, besides ending extended unemployment (which is a fair point), how would Qcity address the other underlined reasons?

I have a teen working fast food. Straight through the pandemic. (And got covid for it). You wouldn't believe the abuse they took from some of these morons.
My daughter started working at Jimmy John's when they closed schools and opened back up for carryout. She was killing it with overtime and tips and was able to save almost 10 G's before she left for school in August. The owner paid them time and a half any time they had daily deals that he knew would cause an uptick in business and it seemed people were very generous with tipping for those working early on in the pandemic.

The Trump economy provided the first significant wage growth for the middle class in 20 years; we were on a great path of higher wages and almost no inflation. Then BIG government got involved and now we have runaway inflation, and the government outbidding employers for workers; it is beyond insane.

When Trump took office we had nearly 8 consecutive years of steady job growth and low unemployment and that continued under Trump. I agree wages do grow best at full employment, and he started on 3rd base.

Then he completely blew up the budget to add a little juice (to mostly him and his friends) and that's all it was - little. The fractional benefit didn't come anywhere close to the projections he boasted about, and 2 years later we were in a hole and needed another bailout. That's to say nothing of his unforgivably incompetent leadership (or complete lack of) on the pandemic which ultimately cost him the election imo. He can never look in the mirror though it's always someone else then gives himself an "A". ?

As long as neighbors get free money/stuff, neighbor isn't working. When the free stuff ends, we'll be on the road to recovery.

Do you guys even know what the unemployment rate is? 4.7% in Ohio right now. Do any of you know where that stacks up historically? Hardly Sickening! Hardly a bunch of entitled ne'er-do-wells sitting around doing nothing.

4.5-5% is considered full employment.
